By The current generation of Mercedes-Benz’s mid-size crossover has been around for just a couple of years and still looks pretty fresh. However, the German company prepares a mid-cycle update, which is no wonder considering that the competition is getting stronger. The arch-rival BMW X5 is also about to get a facelift, while the class-leading Lexus RX is getting a full redesign in the next year. Therefore, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE is coming with interesting updates.
At this point, we don’t know much about this update. Still, we’ve spotted the test mule and we can see the camouflaged areas. Besides visual updates, we could also see novelties in terms of more standard and available features, new tech goodies, a few cabin modifications and similar things. On the other hand, the powertrain department will probably remain the same.
Although the officials are still quiet, we presume that the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE Design
When it comes to the overall layout, the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE probably won’t change at all. We count on the same mechanics, including the suspension setup, which ensures a super smooth ride and excellent comfort.
On the other hand, we expect to see visual updates. This should be a typical facelift, so the focus should be on the front end. The test mule has been spotted and it shows a couple of covered areas. From what we can see, the new model will come with a new grille design, revised bumper and new internal design of headlights. We expect a couple of revisions on the other end, in terms of new taillights internal design, new rear bumper and similar things. Of course, there’s always room for updates like new color options, new wheels designs and similar things.
Interior
This aspect of the vehicle shouldn’t change that much. Instead, we expect to see a familiar dashboard design, which already looks really amazing. This is arguably one of the nicest cabins in the class. The dash looks flashy, it utilizes high-end materials and features excellent build quality. Furthermore, there is a full load of tech features, which makes everything look even more upscale.
The rest of the cabin will remain the same as well. So, base versions should continue with two rows of seats, which both offer plenty of passenger room and excellent comfort. On the other hand, the third row will remain optional and just like in the current model, it won’t be particularly generous with space. When it comes to cargo capacity, you may count on about 33.3 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 74.9 cubic feet of the total cargo volume, which is pretty good for the segment.
Features
The upcoming update will certainly bring novelties in this aspect. Still, keep in mind that the current model is already pretty impressive in this aspect, so it’s hard to believe that some significant changes could come.
For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 12.3-inch touch screen, a 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, “Hey Mercedes” virtual assistant, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, HD Radio, satellite radio, wireless device charging, Bluetooth, five USB ports, keyless entry, push-button start, dual-zone automatic climate control, a sunroof, and ambient lighting. Among options, you can find power soft-closing doors, four-zone automatic climate control, a cabin air fragrance system, a panoramic sunroof, rear sunshades, 13- and 25-speaker Burmester sound systems and two additional USB ports.
The same thing goes for safety features. All models should come standard with a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, automatic high beams etc.
2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE Engines
Things under the hood probably won’t change. So, the base model should continue with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 255 horsepower. The first upgrade comes in the form of a 3.0-liter inline-six engine, which is good for about 362 horsepower. The same engine is available in a variant with both turbo and supercharged, with the max output of 429 horsepower.
The V8 offer starts with a familiar 4.0-liter twin-turbo, which puts out 483 horsepower. Also, you can get the AMG-badged version, which features an upgraded version of this engine, with a max output of 603 horsepower. Inline-six and V8 engines come coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid system.

We expect that the 2023 Mercedes-Benz GLE will hit the market sometime in the second half of the next year. We expect that the starting price will go around 57.000 dollars. Key competitors are models like BMW X5, Acura MDX, Volvo XC90 etc.
