2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign: Everything We Know So Far

The most popular mid-size luxury crossover is about to get a full redesign in the next year if we can trust the latest reports. The current generation has been around since 2015 and even though it still looks incredibly fresh, it needs updates to retain its leading position. That’s why we are about to see a lot of changes for the 2023 Lexus RX 350, which will get a full overhaul.

At this point, we are still waiting for the details, but we know what to expect from the next-generation RX. The company’s best-seller will get a completely new platform, which should improve ride quality and comfort. Furthermore, we count on a new styling, as well as on a new interior design. Of course, novelties could come under the hood as well, though some of the current engine options will probably remain.

We expect that the 2023 Lexus RX 350 will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Redesign

Naturally, we expect to see all kinds of changes for the 2023 Lexus RX 350. The current generation has been around since 2015 and it is one of the rare models in the lineup that still hasn’t switched to the new TNGA platform. This will happen with the next year’s redesign.

The benefits from the new platform will be numerous. We all know that Toyota’s new platform features a notably lower center of gravity, so the next-generation RX will feature better handling and should offer better overall ride quality. Furthermore, we count on some notable weight savings, which will improve the ride quality even more, and also improve overall efficiency.

Exterior

When it comes to the exterior design, we have no doubt that the 2023 Lexus RX 350 will come with the completely new styling. Still, what’s important to keep in mind is that the current generation, somehow, still looks incredibly fresh, with all those striking design solutions and sharp edges. Therefore, we believe that most of the changes will be evolutionary. The famous spindle grille will get a new iteration, while the headlights should come with a similar design we saw in the new NX.

Besides the new styling, the next generation could also come with changes regarding the size. The current model is among the smallest in the class, so we may expect a notable increase in the new one. This particularly refers to the wheelbase, which will probably gain a few inches.

Also, we expect that the 2023 Lexus RX 350 L will feature notably bigger dimensions. This three-row version should feature a longer wheelbase, which should finally provide enough passenger and cargo space. We will get into this in a minute.

Interior

Redesign always brings new interior design (except for Chevy Silverado), so the 2023 Lexus RX 350 interior won’t be an exception. If you look at the current cabin, it comes with a quite conservative design approach, with a classic dashboard design that combines old-fashioned design solutions with high-end materials. We like such a combination and we presume that the new model will continue similarly. We presume it will take some inspiration from the smaller NX as well, while the implementation of the latest tech goodies is another thing we expect to see.

The standard version will feature two rows of seats and we expect it could offer a little bit more cargo space than the current model. On the other hand, the three-row model should feature a notably longer wheelbase, which would provide way more passenger room in the third row, as well as better cargo volume.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Engine

The 2023 Lexus RX 350 will remain the base version of this luxury crossover and we don’t believe it could come with bigger changes. It will continue with the well-known 3.5-liter V6 and the only thing we could see is a slight increase in power and torque. The current model is good for about 295 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque.

The current model comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty good job. However, some sources speculate about the possibility to see a new, 10-speed unit instead. The officials are still quiet on this matter.

Other than the RX 350, the new generation will also come with a hybrid version on the offer. We count on a new, more efficient system, which will replace the current V6-based setup. More details are yet to come.

2023 Lexus RX 350 Release Date and Price

The exact launch date is still a mystery but we believe that the new 2023 Lexus RX 350 will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022. When it comes to the price, we expect that the base versions will go somewhere around 48.000 dollars. Of course, the competition remains the same, in the form of models like Mercedes-Benz GLE, BMW X5, Volvo XC90 etc.
