2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Is Getting Performance Versions?

0

The famous mid-size SUV has just been redesigned. The new generation came with a lot of interesting and important novelties, so it makes perfect sense not to expect bigger novelties for the second production year. Of course, we are talking about the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee and from what we can hear, the second production year will bring some novelties. Allegedly, this is the model year for the introduction of performance variants, SRT and Trackhawk models. However, the officials are still quiet about this, so make sure to take this with a reserve.

Other than the possible introduction of new performance versions, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue in the same way. We are about to see the same design, introduced last year. The new generation is impressive in many ways, starting from a pretty attractive interior design, a long list of standard equipment, great off-road capability etc.

We expect that the next year’s model will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Design

Design-wise, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue in the same way. The overall layout will remain the same, now based on the Giorgio platform. Compared to the previous generation, the new model is lighter and offers more engaging handling. Furthermore, it looks great. The new design language brings evolutionary changes, which make this SUV look both rugged and elegant.

When it comes to possible novelties, we presume that new performance versions would bring certain upgrades. Styling changes seem quite likely, while we also expect to see some upgrades under the skin. This refers to things like suspension setup, brakes etc. On the other hand, the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk will continue as the best off-roader in the lineup, with suspension upgrades, limited-slip differential, skid plates, tow hooks etc.

Interior

On the inside, we definitely expect no changes. The 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue with the same cabin design, which offers a great mix of attractive aesthetics and nice materials. You can notice a lot of attention to detail, while the overall build quality is pretty impressive too. Furthermore, there is a very generous list of standard and available tech and convenience features, which also contribute to Grand Cherokee’s premium look and feel.

Besides great build quality, there is also a generous amount of room. The front seats are spacious, massive and supportive, while the driving position is very good. The second row is as generous with space and accommodates adults with ease. The cargo area offers around 38 cubic feet behind the second row and 71 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s about average for the segment where some of the key competitors are models like Honda Passport, Ford Edge etc.

Features

The second production year might bring a few novelties in this aspect. Still, we are pretty sure that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will carry on with the list of standard equipment that’s mostly the same. So, base versions should feature goodies like dual-zone climate control, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, an 8.4-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The list of upgrades should include things like dual-pane sunroof, quad-zone climate control, a 10.1-inch touch screen, a 10.25-inch passenger-side touch screen, navigation, a nine-speaker Alpine stereo, a 19-speaker McIntosh stereo, HD Radio, satellite radio, a rear-seat entertainment system, wireless device charging, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The list of standard safety features should include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rear parking sensors etc.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Engines

We have no doubt that base models will continue with a 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 293 horsepower, which seems plenty enough to satisfy most drivers. On the other hand, the optional 5.7-liter HEMI V8 features a max output of 360 horsepower, which offers some pretty good driving dynamics. Both engines come in pair with 8-speed automatic transmission.

The base engine returns around 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the segment. On the hand, the V8 is notably thirstier and returns around 14 mpg in the city and 22 mpg on the highway.

Finally, keep in mind the reports about high-performance versions. One of them would be the SRT model, which comes with a 6.4-liter V8, with a max output of 475 horsepower. The second one would be the Trackhawk model, with the famous Hellcat engine that puts out more than 700 horsepower. We are still waiting for the official confirmation of these two performance models.

2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2023 Jeep Grand Cherokee will arrive sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 38.000 dollars.
