2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Preview: Redesign, Hybrid, Price, Interior, Limited

0

The current generation of Hyundai’s mid-size two-row crossover has been around for a while. It already received a facelift, while the plug-in hybrid version has just debuted. All this indicates that the full redesign won’t happen in the next couple of years and that the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe will be a typical carryover model. In other words, we don’t expect to see significant changes, though there is always room for minor updates like new colors, standard features etc.

The overall layout will certainly remain the same. So, you may count on familiar design characteristics, on familiar pros and cons of this model. What we like about Santa Fe is its spacious and upscale interior, while the list of standard equipment is also pretty generous. Furthermore, there is a wide range of powertrain options on the offer, while the starting price is pretty low for the class. When it comes to things we don’t like, some of the biggest complaints go to the underpowered base engine, firm ride and polarizing styling.

As there are no significant changes to come, we presume that the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022.

2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Design

Design-wise, the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe won’t change. We expect to see a familiar design, which has been around since 2018, but which was updated in 2020. That facelift brought a couple of pretty interesting updates, starting from the new grille, new front and rear bumpers, wheels etc. Considering all these updates, we are pretty sure that the next year will bring no notable changes.

Mechanically, things haven’t changed since the 2018 launch. This refers to the suspension setup as well, which may feel too firm to some. However, the reward of such a setup comes in less body roll and pretty engaging handling for this class of vehicles.

Interior

As we already mentioned, the cabin is one of the strongest points of this crossover. First of all, everything looks pretty upscale. The dashboard offers an attractive design, while the materials and overall build quality are at a pretty impressive level too. Finally, there is a long list of standard and available tech goodies, which makes everything look even classier.

2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Interior

The Santa Fe is a mid-size SUV with two rows of seats, comparable with models like Nissan Murano, Ford Edge etc. It offers plenty of space for the passengers and accommodates adults in both rows with ease. The front seats are massive and supportive, while the driving position is good.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 36.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seats and 72.1 cubic feet with these seats folded, which is quite typical for the class.

Features

Of course, additions to the list of standard equipment are always possible but believe that the next year’s model will continue in pretty much the same way. So, base models should come standard with goodies like an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Bluetooth, and four USB ports. Among upgrades, we will see goodies like dual-zone climate control, push-button start, panoramic sunroof, 10.25-inch touch screen (requires a wired connection for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto), 12.3-inch digital gauge cluster, navigation, HD Radio, wireless device charging, and a 12-speaker Harman Kardon stereo etc.

The same thing goes for safety features. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a rearview camera, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, pedestrian detection, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automatic high beams etc.

2023 Hyundai Santa Fe Engines

Another strong point of this crossover is the fact that it comes with four powertrain options on offer. First of all, there is a base 2.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 191 horsepower and may serve as a good daily commuter. For those who are looking for something peppier, there is a pretty capable turbo-four option, which is good for about 281 horsepower, which offers notably better performance.

There are also two hybrid versions on the offer. The first one is a classic hybrid, based on a 1.6-liter turbo-four engine, which puts out a combined output of 221 horsepower. The Korean company has just come up with the new, PHEV version of Santa Fe, which comes with a more powerful electric motor and a combined output of 260 horsepower. This version also offers 31 miles of the all-electric range.

We expect that, as there are no bigger changes to come, the 2023 Hyundai Santa Fe is about to hit the market sometime in the last quarter of 2022. When it comes to the price, base models should go around 28.500 dollars. Key competitors are models like Nissan Murano, Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer etc.
