2023 Cadillac XT4 Is Getting Mid-Cycle Refresh?

0

The current generation of Cadillac’s entry-level crossover has been around for a while. Some sources were suggesting a mid-cycle update for 2022 but that didn’t happen. Nowadays, we are getting reports about the mid-cycle for the 2023 Cadillac XT4. The officials are still quiet but make a lot of sense if we consider that the next year’s model will represent the fifth model year of the generations. In any case, take this article with a reserve.

We presume this would be a typical mid-cycle update. It would include various changes but a vast majority of them would be in terms of aesthetics. We would expect to see most of the novelties at the front end, while other areas would come with novelties as well. On the other hand, we don’t believe that bigger interior changes would happen but we certainly expect to see novelties regarding standards and available equipment. The powertrain should remain the same.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Design

This small crossover has been around since 2018, so this seems like a perfect time for updates. At this point, we are still waiting for the official confirmation, but we presume this would be a typical mid-cycle refresh. So, it’s not hard to presume that most of the changes would be in terms of styling. We expect to see a new front end design, with new headlights, new grille, bumper etc. We presume some inspiration would be taken from the newer models like the Escalade and XT6. Other areas of the vehicle should come with some novelties as well.

On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle will remain the same. The 2023 Cadillac XT4 will continue to ride on a familiar E2 platform. We like its suspension setup, which ensures a smooth and comfortable ride. On the other hand, this crossover definitely isn’t among the most athletic vehicles in the class.

Interior

We don’t believe that this refresh could bring bigger changes on the inside, even though we would definitely like to see some of them. The current cabin looks ok but lacks the premium feel. This particularly refers to the materials, which are unimpressive. The build quality won’t amaze you either. On the other hand, we can’t complain about the cabin insulation, which is good even at higher speeds.

The 2023 Cadillac XT4 won’t feature the most upscale cabin in the class but it will offer a lot of passenger space. Thanks to more than 109 inches in wheelbase, both rows of seats accommodate adults with ease. Furthermore, the front seats are massive and supportive.

Despite the pretty impressive wheelbase, the cargo area is barely average for the class. You may count on about 22.5 cubic feet behind the second row, while the total cargo volume goes around 49 cubic feet.

Features

As we are expecting to see a mid-cycle refresh, we are also expecting some novelties in terms of new standard and available equipment, both in terms of convenience and driver-assistance features. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like dual-zone climate control, remote start, keyless entry, an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker stereo, satellite radio, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, four USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Bluetooth. Among upgrades, you can find goodies like a sunroof, a 13-speaker Bose stereo, wireless device charging, and navigation.

The current model comes standard with safety features like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, pedestrian detection, rearview camera and rear parking sensors. On the other hand, the list of options is pretty long and we presume some of them could become standard. Some of the highlights are lane departure warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beams, blind-spot monitoring, rear pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, head-up display etc.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Engine

This aspect shouldn’t bring changes. So, we expect that the 2023 Cadillac XT4 will carry on with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which features a max output of around 235 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. That’s enough to ensure decent driving dynamics, though the 9-speed automatic transmission kills a bit of driving experience, due to slow downshifts and lack of refinement.

Base models come with front-wheel drive, while models with all-wheel drive are available. When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on up to 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway, which is about average for the class.

2023 Cadillac XT4 Release Date and Price

Considering the possible update, we believe that the 2023 Cadillac XT4 could arrive a little bit earlier than usual, though still within the second half of the year. The current model starts at around 37.000 dollars and we don’t expect a bigger increase in the future.
