By Audi’s versatile compact crossover has been around for a while and definitely isn’t among the freshest models in the class. However, the last year’s update has brought a lot of new things, starting from a new styling, improved interior and few more changes, so we have no doubt that the 2023 Audi Q5 will continue in the same way. We expect that the current generation will remain in production for a few more years.
However, this doesn’t mean that the next year’s models won’t bring interesting novelties. Moreover, the Ingolstadt company is working on a brand-new, all-electric crossover, which will use the same nameplate. Despite the same nameplate, it will be a completely separate model, with a similar base layout and size, but based on a completely new platform.
Both models will be on sale in the next year and while details about the all-electric version, which will come with the familiar “e-tron” badge, are still a mystery, we know very well that the standard version will come in a typical time of the year, sometime in the second half of 2022.
2023 Audi Q5 Redesign
When it comes to base design characteristics, we definitely won’t see changes. The current generation has been around since 2016 but it doesn’t feel that old, mostly because of the last-years update. That refresh has brought a new front-end styling, as well as more features. As a result, this compact crossover is still competitive, even though the main rivals are some of the class rivals, such as BMW X3 or Volvo XC60.
The same thing can be said for interior design. Typically for Audi, the cabin quality is spot on. The materials are very nice, while the fit and finish are excellent. Furthermore, there is a large number of tech features on the offer, which make everything feel even more upscale. The cabin is also very spacious. This crossover features 111 inches in wheelbase, which provides plenty of legroom in both rows. On the other hand, the cargo area isn’t that impressive and it is actually smaller compared to key rivals.
2023 Audi Q5 Engines
Under the hood, the standard Q5 model will continue in a familiar way. This means you may count on three powertrain options. The offer starts with a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 261 horsepower. That’s plenty enough for drivers, while those who require more can opt for the SQ5 badged model. This one comes with a 3.0-liter V6 engine, which puts out around 349 horsepower and offers notably better driving dynamics. Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid, which is even more powerful, but also heavier. It features a max output of 362 horsepower.
All three versions come equipped with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
Features
Once again, we don’t expect significant changes. The list of standard and available equipment should remain pretty much the same. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like a 10.1-inch touch screen, Android Auto, wireless Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, two USB ports, HD Radio, a 10-speaker stereo, a Wi-Fi hot spot, wireless device charging, tri-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display, a universal garage door opener, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Among options, you can find upgrades like a 19-speaker Bang & Olufsen stereo, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, proximity keyless entry, and a panoramic sunroof, as well as navigation, panoramic sunroof etc.
When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with a rearview camera, front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, forward collision warning and low-speed automatic emergency braking. Additionally, there are upgrades like a surround-view parking camera system, a head-up display, traffic jam assist, lane keep assist, and adaptive cruise control.
2023 Audi Q5 e-tron
As we already mentioned, Audi is working on an all-electric Q5, which should be ready for the 2023 model year. From what we know so far, the new model will be based on VW’s new PPE platform, which will be used for all-electric models in the future.
Compared to the standard Q5, the Q5 e-tron will actually be slightly smaller. However, it will feature a longer wheelbase and the lack of an internal combustion engine will actually provide more passenger space. The battery will be positioned under the body, so the cargo area should be more generous as well.
Unfortunately, we still don’t know details regarding power and range. These details should come up in the near future.
2023 Audi Q5 Release Date and Price
We expect that the 2023 Audi Q5 will arrive sometime in the second half of 2022, with a starting price of around 45.000 dollars. On the other hand, details about the e-tron’s release date and price are yet to be announced.
