The current generation of Acura’s compact crossover has been around for a couple of years. It marks pretty good sales numbers and feels pretty competitive in this high-demanding segment. Of course, the Japanese manufacturer wants to retain this position and to do that, it will update the 2023 Acura RDX. This should be a mid-cycle refresh, with a focus on styling changes. However, we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see updates in other aspects too. Among them, we could also see a performance-oriented Type S model.
With updates or without, the RDX will continue to deliver familiar design characteristics. There are many things we like from this crossover, starting from a capable turbo-four engine, engaging handling, good interior quality and a long list of standard and available equipment
The launch date is yet to be specified but we presume that the 2023 Acura RDX will hit the market sometime in the second half of 2022.
2023 Acura RDX Design
As we’ve just mentioned, the 2023 Acura RDX will probably receive a mid-cycle update. This would bring a lot of interesting novelties, though we are pretty sure that most of the updates will be about aesthetics. The next year’s model should bring a new look but we don’t expect to see anything significant. Simply, the current model already follows the brand’s latest design language and looks very attractive. So, minor tweaks are what we expect to see in the next year.
On the other hand, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle should remain the same. This SUV offers a nice chassis and suspension setup, which provides composed handling and a pretty high level of athleticism. Still, we wouldn’t exclude the possibility to see a high-performance version of the SUV, with the famous TYpe S badge. Besides a more powerful engine, this model would also feature upgraded suspension setup and brakes, additional styling details etc.
Interior
The same thing goes for interior design. Unlike some previous generations, this one features a pretty good build quality, which can finally be compared with the German competition. The materials are really nice, while the build quality is very good too. Finally, there’s a decent amount of standard tech features, which makes the cabin look even more upscale.
Besides good build quality, this cabin is also spacious and comfortable. You may count on two spacious rows of seats, which both accommodate adults with ease. Furthermore, the front seats are massive and comfortable, with very good side support. The cargo area offers around 29.5 cubic feet with the back seats up and 59 cubic feet of the total cargo volume. That’s about average for the class.
Features
Novelties in terms of new standard and available features will certainly come. Still, if we consider that the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect, it’s easy to presume that the number of updates won’t be significant in this aspect. The current model already comes standard with goodies like a 10.2-inch display, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Siri Eyes Free, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, HD Radio, satellite radio, two USB ports, a nine-speaker stereo system, voice recognition, push-button start, proximity key, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a panoramic moonroof.
The potential new standard features are some of those things that are currently optional. That could be goodies like navigation, two rear-seat USB ports, a 12-speaker premium audio system, a 16-speaker premium surround-sound audio system, and a 10.5-inch head-up display.
2023 Acura RDX Engines
Without any doubt, standard models will continue with the same engine. Of course, we are talking about the familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which features a max output of 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. That’s more than you get from base versions of rivals like Audi Q5 or BMW X3, which reflects in better driving dynamics. Also, the 10-speed automatic transmission does a pretty fine job.
However, rivals offer variants with more powerful engines, so it’s no wonder that many reports suggest that the 2023 Acura RDX Type S could be introduced for the next year. This version would probably come with a more powerful variant of the turbo-four engine, the one that powers Honda Civic Type R. we presume that the max output would go somewhere between 320 and 350 horsepower.
2023 Acura RDX Release Date and Price
We believe that the 2023 Acura RDX will be ready for the second half of 2022. Base models should go around 40.000 dollars.
