2022 Volvo XC60 Redesign, Release date, Recharge, Facelift, Price

The current generation of Volvo’s compact crossover has been around for nearly four years and that seemed like a perfect moment for a big mid-cycle update in the eyes of the company management. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the 2022 Volvo XC60 is bringing a lot of interesting novelties. In the refresh, Volvo focused on the styling but designed and engineers didn’t neglect other aspects of the vehicle. Therefore, you may also count on big novelties on the inside, particularly in terms of the new infotainment system. The new model also comes with an expanded list of safety features and other options.

Despite the changes, the overall design remains the same. That’s definitely a good thing, considering that this generation still has plenty of things to offer. We really like its smooth ride, while the cabin design is among the nicest in the class. Furthermore, there is a wide engine offer, while the cargo area also offers good numbers for the class. Finally, there are Volvo’s recognizable seats, which are some of the most comfortable in the automotive industry.

The 2022 Volvo XC60 has already been presented and we expect it will hit the market this summer.

2022 Volvo XC60 Facelift

As we already mentioned, the focus of this mid-cycle update was put on the styling. We saw a number of subtle visual changes, mostly at the front. There, you can find revisions in areas like bumper, grille, headlights etc. Also, you may count on typical updates like new wheels and color options. On the other side, the overall shape has remained the same, which isn’t a bad thing at all, considering that this model was already an amazingly shaped vehicle.

While the styling has received several nice updates, the mechanical aspect of the vehicle remained pretty much the same. Therefore, you may count on the same overall layout, which is based on the company’s familiar SPA platform, which underprints pretty much everything in the brand’s lineup, including the flagship XC90. What we like most about this SUV is its chassis and suspension setup, which is super-soft and perfect for cruising. Journeys with this SUV are a real pleasure and you won’t feel tired even after a whole day of driving.

Interior

When it comes to the interior design, we didn’t see any substantial change in terms of the cabin design. However, that doesn’t mean that the Swedish carmaker didn’t come with novelties. One of the biggest updates is the new infotainment system. Even though we are talking about the same 9.0-inch touchscreen, the software is completely new. It offers more options, it’s easier to use and it’s Google Android Powered. What we really like is the standard navigation system via Google Maps. Besides the new infotainment screen, you may also count on a new digital instrument cluster.

Another novelty we should mention is the optional City Weave cloth upholstery, which is offered in the XC60 for the first time. On the other side, the cabin layout has remained the same and one of the things we like most is the front seats, which are some of the best in the business. They are massive and supportive, while tons of adjustability options allow everyone to find a perfect position.

The second row is also very generous with space and taller passengers can enjoy comfortable rides in this part of the cabin as well. When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 22.4 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 63.3 cubic feet with rear seats down. Those are some of the highest ratings in the class.

2022 Volvo XC60 Engine

Swedish engineers didn’t bother too much with engines, so the powertrain lineup in the 2022 Volvo XC60 remains the same. Base models will continue with the standard version of the familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out around 250 horsepower. That’s enough power for decent driving dynamics. At the same time, fuel economy goes around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is quite typical for the class.

The upgrade comes in terms of the added supercharger. As a result, you get a max output of 316 horsepower. Of course, acceleration is notably better but you should count on lower mpg ratings as well. They go around 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway.

Finally, there is a plug-in hybrid version, which is good for about 400 horsepower. Although powerful, this powertrain isn’t particularly refined. So, if you’re looking for a hybrid luxury SUV, you should rather consider models like Lexus RX.

2022 Volvo XC60 Release Date and Price

We expect that the 2022 Volvo XC60 will hit the market this summer. Bigger price increases are not expected, so base versions should go around 43.000 dollars. Models like Audi Q5 and BMW X3 are some of the key competitors.
