Despite that the current generation has been around for six years, the RX still makes impressive sales numbers and it is still the best-selling mid-size crossover in North America. Therefore, it’s no wonder that the Japanese manufacturer isn’t rushing with changes. The 2022 Lexus RX 350 will continue in the same way and probably won’t feature any particular update. Still, we won’t exclude the possibility to see minor tweaks in terms of standard and optional equipment. New colors are always welcome.

Still, the core of the crossover will remain untouched. This means that you may count on one of the best crossovers on the market. It offers a class-leading predicted reliability rating, along with a smooth ride, exceptional interior quality and loads of standard equipment. We also like its smooth V6 engine, while the biggest complaint goes to the cargo volume, as well as to the tight optional third row.

As there are no bigger updates to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the end of 2021.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Redesign

Design-wise, there is nothing to be added or removed from this crossover. It does what it’s supposed and it does that is such a great way. The only drawback is that it still rides on Toyota’s old K platform. So, it’s no wonder that handling isn’t particularly engaging. On the other hand, the level of comfort is impressive. The ride is incredibly smooth, thanks to Toyota’s well-known Adaptive Variable Suspension.

When it comes to the styling, we saw a mild facelift a few years ago and the current model still follows the brand’s latest design language. Of course, it comes with the newest iteration of the famous spindle grille. Therefore, we don’t expect to see any particular change for the next year. Still, there is always a chance for new color options.

Interior

The inside of the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will also remain the same and that’s definitely not a bad thing. The dashboard may not as flashy as some found in rival models, but the overall quality is exceptional. The materials great, while just a few rivals can match Lexus’s build quality.

Also, Lexus offers some of the nicest seats in the class. The seating position is also very good and provides great visibility and ergonomics. Both rows offer plenty of space and ensure excellent comfort on longer journeys. Also, you can opt for the stretched version, which has the same wheelbase offers several more inches in total length. As a result, you get a third row that is very tight but can be useful for kids.

The cargo area isn’t generous with space. Standard models are good for about 18.4 cubic feet of space behind the back seats and 56.3 cubic feet of the total volume. The three-row version is good for about 7.5 cubic feet with all the seats upright, around 23 cubic feet with the third row folded, and up to 58.5 cubic feet in total. All in all, it’s easy to conclude that there are much better choices if a large cargo hold is your top priority.

2022 Lexus RX 350 Engine

Under the hood, the 2022 Lexus RX 350 will continue with a good-old 3.5-liter V6. It puts out around 295 horsepower and 268 pound-feet of torque. It comes in pair with an 8-speed automatic transmission, which is smooth and shifts on time. Driving dynamics are pretty good too.

When it comes to fuel economy, you may count on about 20 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Those are pretty good ratings for the segment.
