2022 Jeep Wrangler Colors, Release date, Rubicon, Sahara

After the last year’s big updates, which have brought a couple of fantastic powertrain options, we expect to see the 2022 Jeep Wrangler as a carryover model. The current generation is in production since 2018 and by Wrangler’s standards, that’s still pretty fresh. Therefore, we don’t expect any significant updates for the next year. Still, there is always a chance to see some new special editions in the offer. That’s something we often see from this model.

You may count on a familiar model with familiar design characteristics. This is one of the most capable SUVs you can find on the market. Furthermore, you may count on an impressive engine offer. The Wrangler is also pretty functional and a great thing is that you can choose between 2- and 4-door models. Finally, we like FCA’s intuitive infotainment system, which works pretty well in this case.

Since there are no significant changes to come for the next year, we don’t expect that the 2022 Jeep Wrangler could hit the market before the last quarter of the year.

2022 Jeep Wrangler Redesign

As we already mentioned, this is still a pretty fresh model on the market, so we definitely don’t expect to see bigger changes for the next year, especially not in terms of base design characteristics. This model comes in two well-known layouts, either as 2-door or 4-door SUVs. The visual aspect is also pretty familiar and represents the evolution of the styling introduced decades ago.

Of course, the Wrangler’s biggest strength is off-road capability, which is impressive already in base models. Even the base model comes standard with things like four-wheel drive, skid plates, a two-speed transfer case etc. Additionally, you can get more advanced transfer case, locking differentials on both ends, upgraded suspension and tires and many more.

Interior

The inside of this SUV looks more than satisfying and we have no doubt that the 2022 Jeep Wrangler will continue in the same way. We are about to see a familiar layout, which combines durable materials with pretty nice aesthetics.

As we already mentioned, there are two versions on the offer. The base 2-door model features just 96.8 inches in wheelbase. So, it’s quite obvious that the second row isn’t particularly spacious. On the other side, the four-door Wrangler features 118.4 inches in wheelbase, which makes a significant difference and provides plenty of room in both rows.

When it comes to the cargo area, the 2-door model is pretty modest. It offers just around 12.9 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 31.7 cubes with the rear seats folded. On the other side, the four-door model is a completely different story. You may count on about 31.7 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 72.4 cubic feet of the total cargo volume.

Features

Yearly updates are mostly about novelties on the list of standard equipment, so there’s a big chance to see the 2022 Jeep Wrangler with a couple of new things. However, the core will certainly remain the same. For reference, the current model comes standard with goodies like manual windows and door locks, removable soft roof, push-button start, 5-inch touch screen, an eight-speaker audio system, Bluetooth, and a USB port. Of course, there is much more in higher trim levels. Some of the things you can get are goodies like 7- and 8.4-inch touch screens, a nine-speaker Alpine audio system, satellite radio, HD Radio, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, a Wi-Fi hot spot, additional USB ports, navigation, a removable hardtop, a power-folding soft top, a forward-facing off-road camera, power windows and locks, air conditioning, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry, and remote start.

2022 Jeep Wrangler Engines

No other SUV in the class has such an impressive range of powertrain options on the offer. The base version uses a good-old 3.6-liter V6, which puts out around 285 horsepower. Of course, there is also a newer 2.0-liter turbo-four, which is good for 270 horsepower but offers a little bit more torque than the base V6. Speaking of the torque, the 3.0-liter turbodiesel really impresses. It features 260 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque, which makes it perfect for both towing and off-roading.

Last year, we saw the introduction of a plug-in hybrid version. This system is based on a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which comes in a combination with two electric motors, for a total output of 375 horsepower. Also, you may count on 21 miles of the all-electric range.

Finally, there is the Rubicon 392, equipped with the large 6.4-liter HEMI V8 engine, with a total output of 475 horsepower.

2022 Jeep Wrangler Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2022 Jeep Wrangler sometime in the last quarter of the year. Also, the price should remain pretty much the same as for the current model. The 2-door model should start at around 29.000 dollars, while the four-door version should be available at 33.000 dollars. Key competitors will be models like Ford Bronco and Toyota 4Runner.
