By Big things are happening these days in Jeep, mostly because of the new Grand Cherokee and the comeback of Wagoneer. Therefore, it’s obvious that there is no room for changes in the rest of the lineup. So, the 2022 Jeep Cherokee is about to carry on in the same way. We are about to see the same layout, which has been the same for years. The current generation has been around since 2014, but it still competes in the market pretty well. That’s why the best we could see for the next year are minor updates, such as new color options and few additions to the list of standard equipment.
So, what you can expect from the next year’s model is an SUV that’s strong in many fields. We like this model because of its impressive off-road performances, but also like the intuitive infotainment system and a pretty wide engine offer. As there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, the launch date should be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.
2022 Jeep Cherokee Redesign
The current generation has been around since 2014, as we already mentioned. However, we saw a massive facelift a few years ago, when a completely new styling, much more appealing, was introduced. That’s why we don’t expect to see any changes for the 2022 Jeep Cherokee. The current generation should remain in production for a few more years and bigger changes shouldn’t happen before the overhaul.
What we really like about this crossover is the off-road capability. Practically, all versions can offer solid performance. Of course, there are also versions that are specially designed for off-roading. This particularly refers to the Trailhawk model, which comes standard with Jeep Active Drive Lock 4WD system, upgraded suspension, all-terrain tires, rear skid plate etc.
Interior
Considering the model’s age, it seems logical that this model doesn’t feature the nicest cabin in the class. However, this interior is far from looking bad. There are many areas covered with soft-touch materials, while the build quality is good as well. On the other side, seats could be better and offer more support.
Both rows of seats offer enough room to accommodate adult passengers with ease. The front seats are really generous in this aspect, as we also like the visibility in all directions. The second row also offers more than a sufficient amount of leg and headroom, so even taller passengers may enjoy a comfortable ride.
Behind the seats, you may count on 25.8 cubic feet of cargo space, which seems okay but it’s still far from the class leader. The total cargo volume isn’t much better either. You get around 55 cubes, which is way behind class-leading results.
Features
Although there is a chance to see a couple of new things on the list of standard equipment, we don’t expect to see anything more significant. Instead, the list of standard equipment should remain pretty similar. So, all models should come standard with goodies like a 7-inch touch screen, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, voice recognition, Bluetooth, a USB port, and a six-speaker stereo. The current list of options is really long. Some of the highlights are features like an 8.4-inch touch screen, Wi-Fi hot spot, navigation, satellite radio, HD Radio, additional front USB port, two rear USB ports, proximity keyless entry, remote start, a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, a household-style power outlet, dual-zone automatic climate control, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster display.
Things like forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assist, blind spot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert, rain-sensing windshield wipers, and a rearview camera are currently on the list of standard equipment. Additionally, you can get upgrades like automatic high-beam headlights, adaptive cruise control, automatic parking assist, and front and rear parking sensors.
2022 Jeep Cherokee Engines
We expect to see 2022 Jeep Cherokee with three familiar engine options in the offer. Base versions will carry on with a good-old 2.4-liter inline-four, which features a max output of 180 horsepower. It’s not particularly fast but could serve well as a daily commuter. If you prefer something peppier, a familiar 3.3-liter V6 is a good choice. This engine delivers 271 horsepower and besides good performance, it also offers a nice sound note. Finally, there is a 2.0-liter turbo-four, which delivers 270 horsepower and, more importantly, 295 pound-feet torque. It is the most capable unit of the three.
When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 22 mpg in the city and 31. The turbo-four is pretty similar, while the V6 is the thirstiest and returns around 21 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
2022 Jeep Cherokee Release Date and Price
We expect to see 2022 Jeep Cherokee sometime in the last quarter of the year, with a starting price of around 27.000 dollars. This segment is full of excellent SUVs and some of the key players are models like Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, Nissan Rogue etc.
