This small crossover appeared years ago and the whole concept turned out to be a pretty good idea. The goal was to create a small and very affordable crossover, which would perfectly suit emerging markets, such as India, Russia, Brazil etc. Sales numbers were very good. So, it was time for the second generation, which arrived two years ago. Despite the new design, the general concept remained the same. So, it’s not hard to conclude that the 2022 Hyundai Creta will carry on in the same way.

However, we are also getting reports about the possible updates, or upgrades if you want. Allegedly, there is a chance to see a performance-oriented version of the SUV, with upgrades under the hood, in terms of suspension and aesthetics. On the other side, standard models would carry on in the same way, as it’s still early for a mid-cycle update.

Despite the possible addition of the N-badged version, we don’t believe that the 2022 Hyundai Creta could arrive before the last quarter of the year.

2022 Hyundai Creta Redesign

As we’ve just mentioned, the general idea hasn’t changed with the arrival of the second generation and we are still talking about a model that is designed primarily for emerging markets. The best proof we can give to you is the fact that this model still rides on a good-old K2 platform, which has always been reserved for lower-end models in Hyundai’s lineup. However, that doesn’t mean that the 2022 Hyundai Creta won’t be a modern vehicle. It will continue to offer attractive aesthetics that aren’t different from more upscale crossovers in the lineup, as well as solid ride quality and decent overall performance.

When it comes to aesthetics, the current model already looks pretty attractive. It follows the brand’s latest design language, with most similarities with models like Kona, Santa Fe etc. We don’t expect to see any changes in the near future, though there’s always the possibility to see minor tweaks, such as new color options.

Interior

Considering that this model is designed for markets where buyers usually have limited budgets, it’s obvious that the interior quality isn’t as great as in models like Tucson or Kona. Simply, the best way to make a car affordable is to save on the interior. However, the 2022 Hyundai Creta will be far from looking cheap. Moreover, the dashboard actually looks very attractive, even though the materials are mostly hard plastics. Still, the dashboard looks quite funky, so the insufficient materials’ quality isn’t easy to be noticed. Also, the list of standard equipment includes goodies like a 7-inch touchscreen, which comes standard with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

With 102.8 inches in wheelbase, the Creta is a typical subcompact crossover. Therefore, you shouldn’t expect a tremendous amount of space. Still, the second row is far from being tight and it definitely can accommodate a couple of adults in a quite comfortable fashion.

2022 Hyundai Creta Engines

Considering that this model is offered in different parts of the world, it’s no wonder that the engine offer is pretty interesting. On some markets, base models come with a good-old 1.5-liter inline-four, which puts out around 115 horsepower and offers no more than mediocre performance. So, those who look for something peppier should consider a 1.4-liter turbo-four, which is good for about 140 horsepower and moves this crossover from 0 to 100 km/h in 9.5 seconds. Finally, there is also a diesel version in some parts of the world, equipped with a 1.5-liter turbodiesel. This one is good for about 115 horsepower.

Depending on the engine choice, you may count on different transmission options. For example, the base naturally-aspirated engine comes with a manual transmission, while you can also get a version with a CVT gearbox. On the other side, the turbo-four comes exclusively with a dual-clutch transmission. The turbodiesel is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

2022 Hyundai Creta Release Date and Price

We expect to see the 2022 Hyundai Creta sometime late in the year, without bigger price changes. Of course, keep in mind that the actual price largely depends on the part of the world. In Russia, this model starts at around 15.000 dollars. The Indian model, on the other hand, is available at around 13.700 dollars.

Hyundai Creta N Rumors

One of the rumors we can hear these days is that the 2022 Hyundai Creta could bring a performance version. If that happens, we would see a lot of upgrades compared to the standard model. One of the things that come to mind is the engine, which could bring some power boost. Of course, we would also expect to see a little bit stiffer suspension, as well as upgraded brakes. Naturally, this model would also come with a plethora of unique styling details, such as new bumpers, wheels, badges etc. Exclusive features would be available on the inside as well.

However, the 2022 Hyundai Creta N is just a rumor and probably won’t happen.
