2022 Honda Passport Redesign, Rumors, Release date, Refresh, Colors

0

The Passport came back to life after a long hiatus. However, the new model isn’t a classic BoF SUV, like was the case with the original Isuzu-based model. Instead, we are now talking about a typical crossover, which shares most of its parts with the Pilot. The current generation has been around for a couple of years and the general reception is pretty good. Therefore, we are pretty sure that the 2022 Honda Passport will come without bigger changes, even though we can hear rumors about the facelift.

You may count on a familiar layout. This is a two-row mid-size crossover, which has a lot of good things to offer. We like its smooth and refined engine, as well as the spacious cabin. Furthermore, ride and handling are on a sweet spot between being comfortable and engaging.

Since bigger changes probably won’t happen, we presume that the 2022 Honda Passport will hit the market sometime late in the year.

2022 Honda Passport Redesign

Considering that there are no bigger changes to come, the 2022 Honda Passport will carry on with familiar design characteristics. In terms of mechanics, most of the things are shared with the three-row Pilot. Even the wheelbase is the same, though the Passport features shorter overhangs, which make it looks sportier and more aggressive. This also means better approach and departure angles, which provides a slightly higher level of off-road potential.

When it comes to the styling, the best we could see from the next year’s model are updates in terms of new color options. Other than that, the look will remain the same, which means you may count on a front end that looks pretty similar to its three-row sibling, with only minor differences in terms of the grille pattern and similar things.

Interior

The same thing is expected with the interior. It looks that it’s still early for a facelift, so the cabin won’t change at all. You may count on the same dashboard design, which looks pretty upscale, especially when compared to direct rivals, such as Chevy Blazer or Ford Edge. The whole cabin features pretty nice materials, while the overall build quality is pretty impressive.

Besides good overall quality and attractive aesthetics, this cabin also offers a high level of functionality and practicality. The amount of space is great in both rows, and this crossover accommodates five adults with ease. Also, the driving position is excellent, while the visibility is good in all directions.

When it comes to the cargo area, you may count on about 50.5 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats and 100.8 cubes of the total cargo volume. That’s excellent for the class and more compared to what you get from most three-row crossovers.

Features

We presume that the next year’s model could come with a couple of additions to the list of standard equipment. However, we are also pretty sure that most of the things are about to remain the same. Therefore, base models will continue with the list that currently includes tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, remote start, an 8-inch touch screen, a seven-speaker stereo, Bluetooth, a USB port, and smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. In higher trim levels, you can also get goodies like a moonroof, navigation, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, two additional USB ports, wireless device charging, and a 115-volt household-style power outlet.

When it comes to safety, the current model comes standard with a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, and a road departure mitigation system. So, we doubt that bigger changes could happen in this aspect.

2022 Honda Passport Engine

With Honda, you will hardly get any surprises in terms of powertrain. This SUV relies on a well-known and proven 3.5-liter V6, which puts out around 280 horsepower and 260 pound-feet of torque. The engine comes in pair with a 9-speed transmission, which is smooth and shifts on time. The whole transmission seems very refined, while fuel economy goes around 25 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway. That’s about average for the class. Of course, AWD models are slightly thirstier and return around 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway.

When properly equipped, this SUV can tow up to 5.000 pounds, which is about average for the class.

2022 Honda Passport Release Date and Price

We don’t expect to see the 2022 Honda Passport any earlier than usual. So, it should hit showrooms sometime late in the year. The current model starts at around 33.000 dollars and we don’t expect to see a bigger increase for the next year.

This segment isn’t as crowded as some others, but there are still several capable competitors, such as Ford Edge, Chevy Blazer, Hyundai Santa Fe etc.
