2022 GMC Acadia AT4, Denali, Redesign, Release date, Colors, Interior

0

The current generation of this mid-size SUV has been around since 2017. Therefore, we believe that it still has a couple of more years of production, before we see a complete overhaul. Also, keep in mind the 2020 refresh, which has brought a lot of interesting novelties. We saw new styling, new features and the AT4 version. All this clearly indicates that the 2022 GMC Acadia will be no more than a typical carryover model. Practically, the best we could see are novelties in terms of standard equipment. Other than that, things will remain the same.

All this means that you may count on familiar design characteristics. This model stands out with its truck-like styling, but that’s not the only good thing about it. It also comes with a wide engine offer, smooth ride and good fuel economy. Furthermore, the front and second-row seats are spacious and comfortable. When it comes to things we don’t like, it’s mostly about subpar interior quality and cramped third row of seats.

We expect to see 2022 GMC Acadia sometime late in the year.

2022 GMC Acadia Redesign

Considering that we are talking about a carryover, it’s obvious that there are no secrets about the 2022 GMC Acadia. The overall design is based on a good-old C1 platform, which underprints several GM models, including Chevy Traverse. In this case, the ride quality is on the comfort side, while handling and overall driving experience aren’t particularly amazing.

In terms of styling, the 2020 update has brought a lot of changes and they were pretty amazing. The new versions look way better, thanks to a bold front end, which takes a lot of inspiration from GMC truck models. Also, models like the 2022 GMC Acadia Denali and AT4 will continue with exclusive styling details.

The AT4 model also comes with a couple of nice off-road upgrades. Some of the highlights are things like tuned suspension and AWD system, standard hill descent control etc.

Interior

Unfortunately, the interior doesn’t look as good as the exterior. There is still a lot of hard plastics, which isn’t a common thing among mid-size crossovers anymore. Also, the dashboard would use some more modern aesthetical solutions. On the other side, we like the infotainment system, which is pretty easy to use.

When it comes to the interior space, this SUV features two pretty spacious rows of seats. Also, the front seats are nice and comfortable, while the driving position is good. On the other side, it’s obvious that less than 113 inches in wheelbase can provide enough room for a comfortable third row. The cargo area isn’t impressive either, especially behind the third row, where you ger just 12.8 cubic feet. On the other side, 41.7 cubic feet behind the second row and 79 cubic feet of the total volume seems quite decent for the class.

Features

Novelties in terms of standard equipment are always possible but we don’t expect that too many things will change in the 2022 GMC Acadia. The list of standard features will remain mostly the same. So, you may count on things like tri-zone climate control, n 8-inch touch screen, a six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a Wi-Fi hot spot, five USB ports, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto. If you’re willing to pay more, you can get options like wireless device charging, navigation, an eight-speaker Bose audio system, HD Radio, dual-panel sunroof etc.

The list of standard safety features currently includes a rearview camera, rear parking sensors, a rear-seat reminder, rear cross traffic alert, blind spot monitoring with lane change alert etc. Additionally, you can get goodies like a head-up display, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, front pedestrian braking, Rear Camera Mirror, a surround-view parking camera system, front parking sensors, adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, lane departure warning etc.

2022 GMC Acadia Engines

There will be three engine options for the 2022 GMC Acadia. Base models will continue with the affordable 2.5-liter naturally-aspirated unit, which puts out 193 horsepower. Although this version isn’t particularly fast, it seems okay for daily commuting.

On the other side, the optional turbo-four offers a great balance between power and efficiency. You may count on 230 horsepower, which is enough for solid driving dynamics. At the same time, fuel economy goes around 22 mpg in the city and 29 mpg on the highway, which is pretty good for the class.

Finally, there is the V6, a good-old 3.6-liter unit that puts out around 310 horsepower. It offers better driving dynamics and runs smoother compared to four-cylinder options.

All three engines come in pair with a 9-speed automatic transmission, which does a decent job.

2022 GMC Acadia Release Date and Price

We expect to see 2022 GMC Acadia sometime in the last quarter of the year. The current model starts slightly under 30.000 dollars and we don’t expect a bigger increase for the next year. When it comes to the competition, some of the models to mention are Mazda CX-9, Subaru Ascent, Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot etc.
