With all the novelties and improvements that have come, it’s pretty much for sure that the 2022 Chevy Tahoe, which will represent the second production year, will come without important updates. That is what we would normally expect. However, rumors say a different story. According to them, there is a possibility to see a performance version in the offer. On the other side, standard models will carry on in the same way.
A new performance version doesn’t seem particularly likely. On the other side, standard models will continue to deliver familiar characteristics. This model has so many great things to offer, starting from a spacious and well-built cabin. Furthermore, you may count on capable engine choices, a long list of features and an impressive cargo area. When it comes to potential drawbacks, many feel that the ride is a little bit firm for an SUV.
Considering that we probably won’t see bigger changes, we expect that the 2022 Chevy Tahoe will hit the market sometime late in the year.
2022 Chevy Tahoe Redesign
After the recent redesign that has brought so many novelties, we expect no surprises for the second production year. The 2022 Chevy Tahoe will continue with familiar design characteristics, based on a familiar T1 platform. The new generation is lighter and better to drive. It comes standard with independent rear suspension, which is beneficial in many ways, starting from better ride quality, more cargo room etc. Visually, we don’t expect to see updates, though there is always a chance to see new color options and similar updates.
When it comes to the potential performance version, some reports suggest it could carry the famous “SS” badge. That model would come with a plethora of upgrades, starting from a new suspension and brakes, ending with loads of exclusive styling details. However, the officials are still quiet about this version.
Interior
The inside of the 2022 Chevy Tahoe shouldn’t bring any surprises either. We expect to see the same cabin design, which offers so many great things. Of course, passenger space is one of the first things that come to mind, considering that adult passengers can enjoy a comfortable ride in all three rows. The base version even has a capacity for 9 passengers.
The cargo area is probably even more impressive. You may count on about 25.5 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 72.6 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 122.9 cubic feet with both rows folded. That notable more compared to Ford Expedition, even when compared with a long-wheelbase Expedition MAX model.
Besides plenty of space, this large SUV also features a well-built cabin, full of quality materials. The dashboard looks pretty attractive as well. Still, we have to mention that there are few areas that feature hard plastics.
Features
Yearly updates usually bring novelties in terms of standard equipment, so we could see the same from the 2022 Chevy Tahoe. Still, most of the things are about to remain the same. Base models already come well-equipped. Some of the highlights are goodies like tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, a 10.2-inch touch screen, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, six USB ports, Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a six-speaker sound system, satellite radio, and HD Radio.
Of course, there is much more in higher trim levels. If you’re willing to pay extra, you can get goodies like a panoramic sunroof, navigation, a rear-seat entertainment system with two 12.6-inch touch screens and Wi-Fi capability, wireless device charging, and a nine-or 10-speaker Bose stereo. We presume some of these options could become standard in the next year.
2022 Chevy Tahoe Engines
While the possible performance version would probably bring some engine upgrades, we have no doubt that standard versions will continue with three familiar engine options in the offer. Base models use a 5.3-liter V8 engine, which puts out around 355 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. This engine has enough power to move this huge SUV confidently, though we would rather go for an optional 6.2-liter engine, which puts out around 420 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque. Driving dynamics are notably better with this one.
Both of these engines have pretty big displacement and aren’t particularly fuel-efficient. So, you may also consider a diesel version. That model comes with a 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 277 horsepower. Although less powerful than gasoline counterparts, this engine offers an impressive 460 pound-feet of torque, so although slower, it moves this SUV with ease.
All three engines come in pair with a 10-speed automatic transmission, which does a pretty fine job.
2022 Chevy Tahoe Release Date and Price
We expect to see a 2022 Chevy Tahoe sometime in the last quarter of the year. The current model starts at around 51.000 dollars and we don’t expect a bigger increase in the near future.
