2022 Audi Q7 Review, Colors, Release date, Hybrid, Interior

Mid-size luxury SUVs are more than just about popularity, they are a matter of prestige as well. Therefore, it’s no wonder that every major carmaker pays special attention to this segment. The company from Ingolstadt is no exception and even though its model, the Q7, has been around for about six years, it is still more than competitive in every aspect. That’s the reason why Audi engineers won’t rush with the redesign. The current generation will remain in production for some more time, which means that the 2022 Audi Q7 is about to carry on in the same way.

This means you may count on a versatile crossover, which looks good and features exceptional interior quality. Furthermore, it comes with a couple of pretty capable engine options in the offer. Also, we like the number of tech features in the offer. Since there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for the last quarter of the year.

2022 Audi Q7 Redesign

As we already mentioned, the current generation has been around since 2015. However, it doesn’t feel old at all, mostly because of the massive mid-cycle refresh, which was done less than two years ago. For that occasion, we saw significant updates, not just in terms of the exterior design, but in terms of interior, suspension etc.

Visually, the current model still looks good. The front end looks sharp enough to comply with the brand’s contemporary design language, though it isn’t exactly the Q8’s clone. The overall shape features Q7’s well-known wagon-like body, which makes the car look sleek and sporty. Higher trim levels come standard with air suspension, which has a pretty big impact on the overall ride quality.

When it comes to possible novelties for the 2022 Audi Q7, we don’t expect to see too many of them. We could see a new color option in the offer but anything more than that would be a real surprise.

Interior

The recent facelift has brought significant novelties on the inside as well. We saw a new dashboard design, which utilizes new materials, new shapes and loads of advanced tech features. This particularly refers to the dual-screen setup at the center stack, which is definitely one of the highlights of Q7’s interior. We expect that the 2022 Audi Q7 will continue in the same way.

This also means that the overall layout will remain the same, and that includes passenger space as well. Compared to rivals, this model features a little bit tighter third row. Also, the cargo area offers 14.2 cubic feet of space behind the third row, 35.7 cubic feet behind the second row, and a total of 69.6 cubic feet with both the second and third rows folded. That’s below-average for the class. On the other side, the first two rows are very spacious and comfortable.

Features

Yearly updates are mostly about additions to the list of standard equipment and the 2022 Audi Q7 shouldn’t be an exception. A few novelties will probably come but we don’t expect too much. Simply, the current model already stands pretty well in this aspect. It comes standard with goodies like a 10.1-inch upper touch screen, an 8.6-inch lower touch screen, Audi’s Virtual Cockpit, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, a navigation system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, a 10-speaker stereo, satellite radio, HD Radio, tri-zone climate control, keyless entry, panoramic sunroof etc.

The list of standard features also includes plenty of safety goodies. Some of the highlights are things like front and rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, lane departure warning etc.

2022 Audi Q7 Engines

This aspect will certainly remain untouched. Therefore, base models will continue with a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four, which puts out nearly 250 horsepower. While it seems powerful enough for most drivers, we would always recommend going for an optional 3.0-liter V6, which puts out around 335 horsepower. This engine comes coupled with a 48V mild-hybrid setup and the overall performance is more than satisfying. Finally, the most ambitious drivers can opt for the SQ7 model, which utilizes a 4.0-liter V8, which puts out around 500 horsepower. All three engines come in pair with an 8-speed automatic gearbox.

When it comes to fuel economy, the base engine returns around 19 mpg in the city and 23 mpg on the highway. The V6 offers similar numbers, while the SQ7 returns around 15 mpg in the city and 21 mpg on the highway.

2022 Audi Q7 Release Date and Price

Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the 2022 Audi Q7 will hit the market sometime in the last quarter of the year. The base price should go around 55.000 dollars, while models like BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE will remain key competitors.
