The only three-row SUV in Range Rover’s lineup is about to carry on in the same way, according to the latest reports. While the company prepares big things for the near future, it looks like this particular model will have to wait for a couple more years. The focus is currently on the next generation of the flagship Range Rover, which is about to get a complete overhaul for the next year. On the other side, this mid-size SUV will have to wait for a couple of more years to get a complete redesign. The 2021 Range Rover Sport will arrive sometime late in the year and we don’t expect bigger changes.
Therefore, you may count on familiar design characteristics and features. This includes the familiar layout, which offers spectacular off-road capabilities and comes with a familiar design, which hasn’t been changed significantly during this production cycle. Of course, there is also a pretty luxurious interior, as well as a long list of standard features. Finally, count on a generous list of powertrain options.
2021 Range Rover Sport Redesign
The 2021 Range Rover Sport will carry on in the same way. Therefore, you may count on familiar characteristics. The current generation has been around since 2013 and we haven’t seen any bigger changes since then. There was an update a couple of years ago, but we didn’t see too big changes for this occasion. In terms of the exterior design, we saw new headlights and a couple of revisions. On the other side, the interior came with significant updates, but we will get on it in a minute.
Although this SUV looks really amazing, the best thing about it is that you may count on exceptional off-road performances. There are many advanced systems you may count on, including standard Terrain Response System. This system is packed with a couple of great features, including five different drive modes adjustable suspension. You can optionally upgrade it with even more impressive Terrain Response System 2.
Once again, we don’t expect to see any particular changes. Still, this isn’t a bad thing at all, as the current model is already characterized by impressive interior quality. As we’ve already mentioned, the cabin was significantly updated a couple of years ago. All in all, it looks impressive, either we are talking about the look, materials’ quality or craftsmanship. Additionally, a full load of tech goodies, highlighted by a dual-screen setup, makes this cabin look even more opulent.
On the other side, this definitely isn’t the most practical mid-size SUV you can get. While the front seats and second row are comfortable and spacious, the optional third row is very tight and best to be left for kids. The same thing goes for the cargo area, which is among the smallest in the class.
When it comes to standard equipment, there is always a chance to see a couple of novelties in the next-year model. Still, we don’t expect to see too many changes, as the current model already comes with a long list of standard features, even in the most basic versions.
When it comes to tech goodies, all models come equipped with things like dual 10-inch touch screens, navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an eight-speaker audio system, satellite radio, a USB port, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi hotspot. Additionally, there are premium audio systems, quad-zone climate control, rear-seat entertainment system and many other things.
The list of standard safety features includes things like front and rear parking sensors, low-speed automatic emergency braking, lane departure warning, lane keep assisst, rearview camera etc. Among optional features, you can find things like blind spot monitoring, driver drowsiness monitoring, traffic sign recognition, adaptive cruise control, high-speed automatic emergency braking, rear cross traffic alert and more.
2021 Range Rover Sport Engines
The engine lineup will definitely remain the same. Therefore, base models will carry on with a familiar inline-six unit, which is good for about 355 horsepower. The company has recently presented a PHEV version, which is based on a small 2.0-liter turbo-four but which delivers quite impressive 400 horsepower.
Still, those who are looking for astonishing performances would rather pick a well-known 5.0-liter V8, which comes in two output variants, with either 525 or 575 horsepower. Finally, there is a 3.0-liter V6 turbodiesel with around 255 horsepower.
All engines come coupled with an 8-speed automatic transmission.
2021 Range Rover Sport Release Date and Price
Considering that there are no bigger changes to come for the next year, we presume that the launch date will be scheduled for a typical time of year. Therefore, we expect 2021 Range Rover Sport sometime in the last quarter of the years. We don’t expect bigger changes in terms of the price either. The current model starts around 69.000 dollars, while higher trim levels easily go into the world of six figures. Key competitors are models like Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes-Benz GLE etc.
