This is also likely to happen with all the things we saw from the manufacturer.
The redesign will make the Santa Fe interesting alternative to three-row mid-size SUVs. With five seats, it will leave more room behind rear bench, while also boosting the overall comfort of passengers.

The SUV is getting a new shape, which was expected after the arrival of the Palisade. The new Santa Fe will find some inspiration in its bigger sibling, but it will also keep the familiar shapes. A few spy photos inspired fans to make renders according to visible details. Headlights are different than before, with the split between two groups of lights on the front fascial. Plus, the grille is getting a fresh shape, completing the facelift. A tail of the SUV was hidden better and we still don’t know what is behind the camp there. Experts think that the new 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe will borrow some solutions from the Palisade.
Palisade is not the only vehicle with whom 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe can be compared. There is also a Kia Sorento. Two Korean carmakers are joining forces in some segments to make their vehicles more competitive. For example, the above mentioned SUVs will probably share new engines. One of them is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder unit with a hybrid system. It will make Santa Fe more efficient, and what is more important – cleaner. This powerplant could serve as the main source of energy for the US market.
Another option is a revisit of a 2.2-liter diesel motor. However, you won’t see that one in the US. But, European buyers will be happy to hear that Hyundai is working on its efficiency. Instead of the existing automatic gearbox, a new 8-pace dual-clutch transmission will forward power to the front or all wheels. The case is not only improving the fuel economy but the overall ride quality.
Besides novelties in Europe, the US version of the SUV is also ready to present new units. A 2.5-liter mill will replace an existing 2.4 displacement. A slightly larger drivetrain is producing 195 hp, which is 10 more than the Santa Fe offers now. Also, the torque and towing capacity will go up. The fuel economy of Santa Fe is one of the highlights for the mid-size model. We’ll see if a 2.5-liter can keep 25 mpg combined.
A 2.0-liter turbo-four remains an optional powertrain. Owners of the 2021 Hyundai Santa Fe can count on extra power and torque – 235 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Still, some updates are possible and extra values. Even this model returns acceptable mileage – 23 mpg combined. Furthermore, a 2.5-liter engine could replace a 2.0-liter turbo. However, we cannot find official sources to confirm rumors.
2021 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid
Another portion of speculation is taking the hybrid SUV into consideration. This is another possibility since Kia is preparing such a drivetrain for its Sorento and Sonata minivan. Still, the specifications of this model are unavailable and both SUVs could take a 3.3-liter V6 as the base for an electric upgrade.
