At this point, we know that the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will come with a huge portion of changes. The current, first generation of this compact crossover has been around for about five years and the company prepares a mid-cycle refresh. This update is going to be very intense, as there are novelties in all aspects to come.
Besides typical aesthetical updates, the new model is about to come with a lot of mechanical changes. The British manufacturer will bring a reworked version of a familiar D8 platform which will, besides chassis updates, also make this crossover capable to get a hybrid powertrain. Finally, some small changes could come on the inside as well.
As you can see, changes will be numerous. So, it won’t be a surprise to see the new model much earlier than usual. It is coming this summer, according to the latest reports.
2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport Design
Probably the first thing we should mention about the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport design changes on the platform. The compact SUV rides on the company’s familiar D8 platform. This one
Mid-size updates are mostly about visual updates and the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport won’t be an exception. The testing model rides for some time and it still wears a complete camouflage. Such massive covering indicates a lot of styling changes. At this point, we can only speculate about most things, though some details can be seen through the camo. First of all, it’s not hard to notice that the grille features a different, more prominent shape, with a little bit more upright position. Also, we count on new headlights and a bumper that will feature different shape, with sharper lines, new air intakes, fog lights etc.
That won’t be all with visual changes. The rest of the SUV will also come with novelties. We count on some changes on the rear end as well, such as new taillights, bumper
This is where we could also see a solid number of updates. The current model looks okay from the inside. However, it definitely lacks that premium touch, when it comes to materials and dashboard design. Therefore, we could see a couple of changes, particularly in terms of materials, while the overall cabin layout is about to remain the same. That’s not a bad thing at all, as the current version is very spacious and comfortable. You can count on two rows of seating that are very generous in terms of head and legroom, while the seats are massive and supportive. Additionally, there is an optional third row of seats, which is a rare thing among compact SUVs.
Another aspect where we expect to see updates are tech features. The current model is quite decent in this aspect, but we count on a couple of updates, of things like the infotainment system. Also, it would be nice if we see a couple of additional connectivity features.
2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport Powertrain
As we already mentioned, one of the biggest novelty for the next year will be a new hybrid version. This is a part of the company’s plan to electrify the complete lineup by 2020. Unfortunately, details about the new hybrid powertrain are still unavailable, though we have no doubt it will be based on a familiar 2.0-liter gasoline engine.
Other than a new hybrid powertrain, things will remain pretty much the same. Count on a familiar 2.0-liter turbo-four engine, which comes in two output variants, with either 240 or 290 horsepower. In other parts of the world, the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport will be available in diesel versions as well. There is a familiar 2.0-liter turbodiesel, which also comes in a couple of different output versions, in a range between 150 and 240 horsepower.
2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport Release Date and Price
Given all the changes that are coming, it’s not strange that the new version will hit the market already in the summer. When it comes to the 2020 Land Rover Discovery Sport price, it shouldn’t be much different compared to the current model. This would mean around 38.000 dollars for
