After the redesign in 2019, the 2020 BMW X5 will bring more excitement. But, it is happening in the performance class. Already now we have announcements of a new M package. Nevertheless, that is not going to be the only addition and change for the 2020 edition. Besides small cosmetic updates, there is a brand-new hybrid drivetrain on the way. There is no too much info about it, but rumors are claiming that leaking sources have confirmed this.

That is two years shorter than the first and second generation, which lasted 7 years each on the market. Compared to the predecessor, the new 2020 BMW X5 will be 1,5 inches longer and 2,5 inches wider. The SUV is also more spacious than before.

2020 BMW X5 Specs

Initially, four engines, two petrol mills and two diesel powertrains, will be available to customers around the world. The base gasoline version will be a turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder that produces 340 hp (250 kW) and 330 lb-ft (450 Nm) of torque. That is a significant boost to 300 hp from the previous generation. Equipped with this aggregate, the 2020 BMW X5 will sprint from standstill to 60 mph in 5.5 sec. Top speed for this version is 150 mph.

Despite the current controversy over diesel engines, BMW has maintained two such aggregates, primarily due to customers in Europe. The base, 3.0-liter turbocharged six-cylinder delivers 265 hp (195 kW) and 620 Nm (547 lb-ft) of maximum torque.  The most powerful version on the European market, until the new X5 M comes, is the X5 M50d. A 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine with 4 turbochargers bursts over 400 hp and 560 lb-ft of torque.
