Volvo has released official photos and technical details of its new smallest SUV. As we could see, the 2019 Volvo XC40 comes with fewer modifications comparing to its siblings. In order to meet customers who want their car to look more attractive, the Swedish carmaker is offering 17 two-color combinations of body and roof. Also, alloy wheels are available in few sizes. The stylish elements of the exterior are mostly coming from the latest generation of Volvo models. The similar design language is in the cabin. As about the drivetrain, the XC40 is using both petrol and diesel units.

Volvo has provided a much more useful space for passengers in the cabin. Their passengers in 2019 Volvo XC40 can put personal things, such as a laptop. The highlight of the center console is a 9-inch screen. In front of the driver, there is a larger, 12.3-inch TFT display instead of a classic dashboard. The multimedia system offers an easy connection to smartphones, either with Android Auto or Apple CarPlay.

As already known, the 2019 Volvo XC40 is built on a new modular platform called the CMA. The Swedish company developed it in cooperation with other companies. This platform also supports versions with electric motors or plug-in hybrid systems. The primary drivetrain of Volvo XC40 uses a T3 petrol engine capable to deliver 156 hp. A slightly stronger T4 can produce 190 hp. Finally, the top of the line model offers is the T5 engine with 247 horsepower. Diesel drivetrains are D3 with 150 horsepower and a D4 that delivers 190 hp. The crossover offers models with front and all-wheel drive as well. There are numerous assistance systems that make driving in the new Volvo SUV comfortable and safe. Among them is a partial autopilot – Pro Pilot Assist. This system alerts the driver to a potential collision and automatically brakes if the driver does not react.
2019 Volvo XC40 release date and price
The 2019 Volvo XC40 will begin production in Belgium. The first units will reach customers early in 2018. The starting price for the T3 model is 31,000 euros. The most expensive models of will cost over 40,000 euros. The SUV will face very tough competition in the European market in the form of BMW X1, Audi Q3, and Mercedes GLA.
