2018 Kia Sportage

New spy shots of the 2018 Kia Sportage are out and we believe that unveiling of this model is approaching fast, since this crossover is being spotted every now and then. This is still third generation of the SUV, and according to these photos, no big changes are going to be applied. Nevertheless, tiny changes are prepared, which could be satisfying to fans until new, redesigned model, and possibly new generation arrives. Spy shots are also telling that new Sportage crossover is in advanced stage of development, which heats the rumors about sooner release date than many enthusiasts have expected.

2018 Kia Sportage changes

For new SUV, South Korean company prepared minor changes, just to refresh the look of this crossover. On spy shots we can see some parts, but heavy camouflage kept most of it unseen. Since this is one of the best-selling models, and major changes were not announced, we believe overall look and size are going to be the same as on current vehicle. What could be new on 2018 Kia Sportage is grille, which is larger. From this tiger nose grille, to new headlights and fog lights, it seems like crossover is slightly more aggressive. Form what we could see, some parts are similar to KX3 platform, so we expect it to be used for upcoming vehicle.

Powertrains which are currently used for this SUV, are going to be rather tuned than redesigned. There are two engines, 1.6-l and 2.0-l units. Smaller petrol CRDi drivetrain can offer 136 hp. For new crossover, this number is going to be higher, as well as for 190 hp-rated diesel 2.0-l unit. Some new drivetrains are mentioned in gossips. Entry-level SUV could come with 1.2-l petrol unit. Top of the range could be 2.0-l T-DGI gasoline powertrain, with output of 250 hp. A 7-speed dual clutch transmission will be carried over to 2018 Kia Sportage.
