Honda is updating almost entire lineup in next two or three years. All vehicles will get new parts, engine, design… Small crossover class will be part of this project, with its representative in 2018 Honda HR-V. It has been almost a year when was the last time we saw it running on the streets as new vehicle, and upcoming updated should be surprise. Original model comes from 90’s and last one was launched in 2006. Couple of years ago, Japanese carmaker decided to re-launch HR-V, and now it is part of second generation.
2018 Honda HR-V engine
Under the hood of the 2018 Honda HR-V will be one of two prepared units. Buyers in North America can purchase crossover with 1.8-l 4-cylinder unit, which comes paired to a 6-speed manual gearbox. This combo is good for 130 hp and 140 lb-ft of torque. A CVT transmission is also possible, but it doesn’t change much on fuel economy and power. But, other engine does. Smaller 1.5-l I-4 is second choice, and this unit, mated to same transmission can make 120 hp and 110 lb-ft of torque. Vehicles with second engine will be offered in the rest of the world and US buyers can’t purchase them.
2018 Honda HR-V redesign
Although this is small SUV, 2018 Honda HR-V is very attractive and many parts are the same as on its big brother CR-V. Compact vehicle has the most of infotainment system features that exist on other cars and SUVs. Visual appearance follows latest steps in Honda’s design language used for entire family, but no radical changes are going to be applied. Some small grille modifications, including lights are possible, and interior will be updated and enriched with few new features. Drive assist and safety systems are in top level, so all buyers don’t need to worry about it.
2018 Honda HR-V price
New 2018 Honda HR-V will keep the price at the level of current model, and it is $20,000 for US vehicles with larger engine. European and Asian drivers could get it even cheaper, since smaller drivetrain is used. Price also depends on transmission system and various additional packages included.
