2018 BMW X5

The X5 is the oldest crossover made by German automaker BMW. Meanwhile, there are other versions created under X series, bigger and smaller, but success of the first SUV had part in big selling numbers of its successors. Latest, third generation of vehicle was released in 2013, and we doubt that 2018 BMW X5 will take crossover into next one. Experts believe there are few more years in third generation and major overhaul is expected in 2020.

Some of the changes could be seen on the testing mule spotted in the street, but we don-t know if it is new 2018 BMW X5, or model that is scheduled for new generation. It is described as prototype vehicle, with a lot of camouflage, because many parts are not ready yet. Side and doors are almost the same as for current crossover. Since hood, bumpers and most of the front fascia were covered in spy shots, we expect these elements with new shape and look. Body seems to be lower than before. Rear end is different, with new lights and fascia. Size of the wheels are the same as before.

On spy shots, there are no many info about cabin of the 2018 BMW X5.It is obvious that new technologies are going to be implemented, and that comfort will be boosted. More leather usage, stylish wooden and metal details, and upgraded audio system will make this crossover almost luxurious. Dashboard is modified with new cluster layout, TFT display and needle gauges.

It is not confirmed and experts believe that 3.0-l V6 petrol unit will give power to 2018 BMW X5. This powertrain can make over 300 hp and lb-ft of torque respectively. There is also diesel version in the mix, with same displacement, but with less power, probably around 260 horses. However, torque is increase to 400 pound-feet. Last possibility is 4.4-l V8 rated at 450 hp and nearly 500 lb-ft of torque for maximum performance.

New technologies and possibly engine will bump the price of 2018 BMW X5. New model will be closer to $60,000, since current vehicle is valued just under $55,000. Higher trims, especially with V8 engine are much more expensive.
