The Fortuner is a mid-size SUV produced by Toyota since 2005. As you probably know, Japanese car maker is considered as one of the world’s leaders, so it isn’t wonder that there are several independent divisions that design model for some specific markets. The Fortuner is one of those models. It was designed and developed by Toyota Motor Thailand. Original model is still under production and it is offered in various countries like India, Argentina, Venezuela, Pakistan, Egypt and many others. After almost a decade of production, it looks like we will finally see the second-generation model in near future. Although it was even expected that new model could come already this year, now it looks that we will see it next year as 2017 Toyota Fortuner.
2017 Toyota Fortuner design
Don’t expect anything radical with 2017 Toyota Fortuner. It will continue its evolution and its basic characteristics will remain in the same manner. It will be a mid-size SUV, with classic SUVish design and with front engine and RWD layout. New model will ride on Toyota New Global Architecture or TNGA platform, which will bring plenty of improvements. Just like original, 2017 Toyota Fortuner will also borrow many solutions from Hilux pickup. We also expect to see many details borrowed from new 4Runner, especially in terms of visual appearance. New model will come with completely redesigned exterior look, which will be much more aggressive and attractive, compared to original. The 2017 Fortuner will come with three rows of seats. Cabin will be completely redesigned, with new styling and plenty of hi-tech features. However, more precise details are yet to be announced.
2017 Toyota Fortuner engine

Some of engines will probably remain, while some units will be replaced for sure. Just like original, 2017 Fortuner will be offered with several petrol and diesel units. It is expected that new model will also get new transmission, instead of current, pretty much outdated, gearboxes.
