New crossover lineup from Renault is consisted of three brand-new vehicles. Except updated Koleos, French carmaker is presenting Kwid, Captur and Kadjar for 2017. All new SUVs are based on Nissan X-trail platform, which is a product of cooperation of two companies. So it is with 2017 Renault Kadjar, which comes as compact crossover. With reduced cost of production, made by cooperation of two companies, and quality added from both, new vehicle will be competitive in European market. Not only visual appearance, but also off-road performance will be superb, so new Kadjar could attract many buyers to try it.
2017 Renault Kadjar redesign
According to available information, 2017 Renault Kadjar is going to be 4.5m long. It is based on CMF platform, developed in cooperation with Nissan, and used by their X-Trail. That includes all-wheel drive system. Outside, we can predict what could be used, comparing to current Renault and Nissan vehicles. It is likely that 2017 Kadjar won’t get halogen lights, sawn on presentation of its concept. Now, LED headlights are being used on most vehicles, and these are offering better lighting. Finally cabin get large sunroof glass, and infotainment is boosted by new edition of R-Link 2 system. Touch-screen display is positioned on the dashboard, and there you can read coordinates from TomTom maps. Finally seating and other standard features are genuine, as you can expect from Renault.
2017 Renault Kadjar engine
Base models of the 2017 Renault Kadjar are equipped with diesel powertrains. Since crossover’s main target is EU market, petrol engines are in shadow of diesel. Entry-level drivetrain is 1.5-l I-4, which is ready to produce 110 hp. With it, 2017 Kadjar can reach 100 km/h in 12 seconds. Estimated fuel economy hasn’t be announced, but this vehicle is going to be very economical. There is another diesel unit, a 1.6-l inline-four engine with 130 hp. With this, Kadjar offer better performance, but fuel consumption is also bigger. At the end, gasoline motor is being offered with 1.2-l four-cylinder drivetrain.
This unit is ready to develop 115 horsepower and 140 lb-ft of torque. Engines are mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, while automated CVT stays the option. Power is sent to front wheels, by default, and AWD is also available at higher trims.
