French carmaker debuted in crossover segment with Captur vehicle, which had its pros and cons. Now, we expect larger models, as 2017 Renault Grand Captur i being prepared for premiere. First spy shots were revealed, but these haven’t spoken too much. We know new version is larger than base Captur, and except that, there are no significant differences between these two siblings. The 2017 Grand Captur will also borrow drivetrains from its smaller predecessor, and it is going to be more like redesigned model, than new vehicle.
2017 Renault Grand Captur redesign
Since its release in 2013, Captur SUV didn’t have to change anything on it until now, and that day had come. There wasn’t any story talking about redesign, and 2017 Renault Grand Captur could bring some changes. First of all, new crossover is larger than predecessor. Except that, under heavy camouflage on the SUV spotted in the streets, there wasn’t seen anything else important. Front of the vehicle will be the same, with same hood lines, grille and bumpers. Headlights also have same shape as at current Captur. It also had fog lights, which couldn’t be seen on Grand Captur due to camo, but we are sure these are going to be installed again. Few lines are noticed, on the side of the body, and front of the crossover gets double arches.
2017 Renault Grand Captur engine
For new 2017 Renault Grand Captur there could be new engine prepared with 90 hp and 120 pound-feet of torque. This should be TCe 90 powertrain from French carmaker, while bigger TCe 120 is uncertain. At some other vehicles it pumps 120 hp and 140 pound-feet of torque, so if it appears, same output will be for new Grand Captur. Diesel powered crossover is going to be offered, while hybrid is less likely. Higher-end models will get additional features that can improve hp rating to 150. A 5-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions are going to be available at choice of buyers.
2017 Renault Grand Captur price and competition
Since regular Captur crossover is priced under $22,000, we predict the value of 2017 Renault Grand Captur around $25,000 for entry-level. That is in par with their main rivals, especially Honda HR-V and Mazda CX5.
