Japanese manufacturer came with plenty of new technologies some time ago and took over big part of the car market, especially when it is about crossovers. One of the most important model for the company is definitely a crossover called CX-5. It was released in 2012 and it was the first model that was designed in new “KODO – Soul of Motion” designed language. It was also the first model that featured new Skyactive Technology entirely. Nowadays, it is coming updated as 2016 year model. This update includes several major changes, so 2017 Mazda CX-5 will probably come with the pretty much characteristics.
2017 Mazda CX-5 specs
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will come with the same characteristics as refreshed model that was presented recently. This update includes several changes, both outside and inside. Exterior changes are mostly at the front end. Where we will see new headlights and new grille with horizontal slats instead mesh pattern. When it is about interior, we will see a redesigned dashboard and several changes in terms of advanced technologies, such as upgraded Mazda Connect infotainment system, for example. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will also come with improvements in terms of safety, so we will see upgraded safety systems like Radar Cruise Control, Smart Brake Support etc.
Just like current model, it will be available in three trim levels. Those are Sport, Touring and Grand Touring. Touring and Grand Touring trims will have Technology package in offer. It includes things like navigation system, the Smart City Brake Support System, adaptive LED headlights, LED running lights, LED foglights, LED taillights and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. The is also an i-ActiveSense package, which includes adaptive cruise control, Smart Brake Support (see Safety section), lane departure warning and automatic high beam headlight control.
2017 Mazda CX-5 engine
Changes under the hood are not expected for 2017 CX-5. It will come with the same Skyactive engines in offer. The base one is 2.0 liter inline-four, which outputs 155 horses and 150 lb-ft of torque. The other one is also I-4, but with displacement of 2.5 liter and max power of 184 horses and 185 pound-feet of torque. The first engine is available with either automatic or manual, while 2.5 liter unit is available only with automatic transmission. The 2017 Mazda CX-5 will be available both in FWD and AWD configurations.
2017 Mazda CX-5 release date and price
The 2017 Mazda CX-5 is expected to come somewhere in the second half of next year. Price will remain unchanged. It means around 22.000 dollars for base model.
