The Acadia is a full-size crossover made by GMC division of General Motors. History of this model began in 2006, when it replaced several models from GM, like GMC Envoy, Pontiac Montana, Buick Rainier etc. Original model is still under production. Almost nine years passed since its launch and, although it was updated few times, it is easy to conclude that this model is pretty much outdated, especially if we consider that most of the competitors are much younger or, at least, fresher. Because of that, new-generation model is highly expected. Although there were many predictions that new model will come already this year, we won’t see it before 2016, when it is expected to come as 2017 GMC Acadia.
2017 GMC Acadia design
The 2017 GMC Acadia will come completely redesigned, as second-generation model. We expect numerous changes in all aspects of the car. It will get new body, which will be made of light materials such as HSS or aluminum. This basically means that 2017 Acadia will be much lighter compared to original, so we expect big improvements in car’s overall performances, especially in terms of fuel economy. When it is about styling, testing model still wears a heavy camouflage, so it is hard to make complete picture of future model. However, it is expected that new model will completely adopt company’s new design language, so we will see recognizable front fascia and other details. When it is about interior, most of the details are still unknown. However, it is expected that 2017 GMC Acadia will ride on some kind of a extended version of the C1XX/Chi platform that will underprint new Cadillac XT5, so spacious and roomy cabin is expected.
2017 GMC Acadia under the hood
The exact engines for 2017 GMC Acadia are still unknown. However, it is expected that current 3.6 liter V6 unit will remain and that will come with some big improvements, both in terms of power and economy. It is also expected that there will be also one optional engine in offer. It will probably be a new 2.0 liter four-cylinder turbocharged unit. We also expect to see new nine-speed automatic transmission in offer for 2017 GMC Acadia.
2017 GMC Acadia release date
It is expected that 2017 GMC Acadia will be presented on some of the major auto shows next year, while serial production will start in the second half of 2016.
