The Escape is a compact crossover, which was originally launched in 2000. During these fifteen years of production, we saw several bigger or smaller updates. There are three generations of this vehicle. Current model was released in 2012. After four years of production, company will make so called mid-cycle refresh, which will bring many changes. The testing model has been already spotted on the streets. Most of the changes that will come with this update are visual, but that doesn’t mean at all that we won’t see several mechanic modifications. This refreshed mode will come next year as 2017 Ford Escape.
2017 Ford Escape details and changes
The 2017 Ford Escape will come with plenty of changes. Although it will keep the same basic characteristics, refreshed model will be improved in many aspects. The most of changes will be made in crossover’s outside look. The 2017 Escape will come with modifications on the both ends. At the front, we will see new larger grille with substantial horizontal bars and new thinner headlights, same as those that we saw on new Edge and Explorer. When it is about rear end, exact changes are still unknown, but it is expected that 2017 Ford Escape will mimic all those changes that came with 2015 Focus. When it is about interior, we will see some smaller modifications. New model will come with some additional hard buttons and knobs in place of touch-sensitive controls. The 2017 Ford Escape will come with the latest version of the company’s Sync 3 infotainment system.

The 2017 Ford Escape is expected to come with same engines in offer as current model. The base variant will be powered by 2.5 liter 4-cilinder engine with 168 horses. There are also two optional units in offer. The first one is a 1.6 liter I-4 turbocharged EcoBoost engine with 180 horsepower. Finally, there is a 2.0 liter turbocharged EcoBoost engine that makes 240 hp. When it is about transmission, current model uses 6-speed automatic, but if we consider that Ford plans to introduce new 9- and 10-speed automatics, it seems possible that 2017 Escape will switch to one of these gearboxes.
