The Chevy Traverse is a full-size crossover SUV produced by GM, under the Chevrolet brand. This model, which is closely related to GMC Acadia and also shares company’s Lambda platform with several other models like Buick Enclave, was originally launched in 2008, as 2009 year model. Although it suffered many modifications during these seven years, it is expected to come redesigned in near future. The second generation of this excellent crossover will come as 2017 Chevy Traverse, but it won’t at the same time as Acadia. According to the latest reports, it will come few months after its GMC brother.
2017 Chevy Traverse specs
The 2017 Chevy Traverse will come completely redesigned, as second-generation model. It will feature plenty of significant changes. The most important one is a new platform called C1XX platform, which is developed for several other models too. New model will come with big improvements when it is about total weight of the vehicle. Its body will be made mostly of lightweight materials such as aluminum and HSS and it will be significantly lighter than its predecessor. This will make a huge impact on the fuel economy and overall performances of 2017 Traverse. New platform will also provide more comfort inside. New model will feature three rows of seats, and it definitely won’t lack in space, when it is about rear passengers. When it is about visual appearance, 2017 Chevy Traverse will come with completely new look, which will be adapted to the company’s new design language, but more details are yet to be announced.
2017 Chevy Traverse engine
The 2017 Chevy Traverse is expected to keep the current engine. It is a 3.6 liter V6 unit, which is good enough for 288 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. Beside this engine, new model will probably come with one additional engine in offer. The exact unit is still unknown, but it will probably be some 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, with much better economy compared to V6. The 2017 Traverse is also expected to come with GM’s new 9-speed automatic transmission.
2017 Chevy Traverse release date and price
As we already said, 2017 Chevy Traverse will come few months later than GMC Acadia, probably in early 2017. Price is yet to be announced, but we don’t expect to see bigger changes, compared to current model.
