History of the SQ5 model starts in 2005. Back then, German carmaker launched their first crossover Q7. Since then, this segment had great expansion, not only Audi vehicles. Constant development was at must, and company released all kinds of SUVs, from compact to full-size vehicles. Three years after its first crossover, Audi launched smaller, Q5. This one is important, because, in 2014, new one arrived, based on it. That was sportier SQ5. New generation is on the way and it comes as 2017 Audi SQ5. This crossover heads to US with V6 engine, and we are sure this breakthrough is going to be successful.
2017 Audi SQ5 redesign
We can guess what to expect from 2017 Audi SQ5, although there is no much info about it from official channels. Also, SUV hasn’t been spotted on the streets, but one thing can unveil its styling – and it is public testing of the new Q5. The 2017 SQ5 is sportier version of it, but both crossovers use similar design solutions. Overall size of the vehicle will be similar to previous models, while some new curves and shapes will be used to refresh the look and add some aerodynamic. Lights are designed especially for this model, as well as honeycomb grilles, bigger air intakes and rear diffuser. With these, 2017 SQ5 crossover is more aggressive than ever.
2017 Audi SQ5 engine
As we already said, this crossover will be released in US with V6 engine and 3.0-l displacement. Supercharged drivetrain is the same to engine used by current models, but it can deliver more power, around 370 hp. Torque level will be about 360 lb-ft. SUV needs 5 seconds to reach 60 mph, and top speed is set to 155 mph. Fuel economy is improved to 27 mpg on highway, 3 mpg more than before, mostly thanks to eight-speed Tiptronic transmission, mated to a V6 powerplant. Nevertheless, Audi is going to use its quattro all-wheel-drive system for new 2017 Audi SQ5.
2017 Audi SQ5 release date and competition
The 2017 Audi SQ5 wasn’t officially confirmed, but we expect it somewhere in 2017, although this SUV could come out as 2018 year model. Rivalry between SQ5, BMW X3 and Mercedes-Benz GLK continues, since all three crossovers expect refreshed models for upcoming years.
