The Volkswagen was the most successful company in car industry last year. In order to keep that state, German giant have big plans for next year. We will see an all-new model that will fill-up company’s SUV lineup. It will be a SUV that will stand below Touareg. The exact name of this model is still unknown, but if we consider that it will come heavily based on CrossBlue concept that came few years ago, we will use the same name. The 2016 VW CrossBlue is expected to enter serial production in early 2016.
2016 VW CrossBlue specs
The 2016 VW CrossBlue is coming as an all-new model. According to the information that we have, new model will be offered exclusively for the North American market, but there is also a possibility to see it available on the Australian market. European model is not expected for now. It is expected that production model will be heavily based on the concept. Instead of six seats, production 2016 VW CrossBlue will feature a cabin with room for seven passengers. It will come with the new platform that will be later used as a basis for some other models from VW Group, such as new Tiguan or new SUV from Skoda, which is on his way to serial production.
When it is about body style, you probably known that the concept was presented in two variants – standard SUV and also in sportier version called CrossBlue Coupe. For now, we don’t know how serial model will look like, but we are hoping that both variants will be in offer for 2016 CrossBlue.
2016 VW CrossBlue engine
The 2016 VW CrossBlue will come in diesel-hybrid configuration. This system will be consisted of 2.0 inline-four diesel engine which is good enough for 190 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque. There are also two electric motors. The first one, front-mounted, produces 54 hp and 133 lb-ft. Other one, rear mounted, is good enough for 114 hp and 199 lb-ft of torque. Total output of this configuration will be 305 horsepower and magnificent 516 pound-feet of torque. The 2016 VW CrossBlue will be equipped with 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
2016 VW CrossBlue release date and price
The exact date of 2016 CrossBlue launch is still unknown. There are some predictions that new model will be presented at the Detroit Auto Show. Serial production will come shortly after. Price is expected to go around 32.000 dollars.
