This name plate is present for more than two decades. Last year we saw a completely redesigned model. Alongside with its relative Legacy 4-door sedan, it came as next-generation model. New model came with plenty of changes and novelties. Beside new platform, exterior and interior design, new engines, it also came with company’s brand new hi-tech features. For the second year of its production, Subaru also prepares several novelties. The 2016 Subaru Outback is expected to come by the end of summer.
2016 Subaru Outback base info
Last year we saw a new sixth generation of Legacy sedan. Along with this model, company launched a mid-size crossover Outback, which is based on this sedan, sharing most of the parts. It rides on the same platform, with front engine and AWD layout. It also shares most of the styling cues, both outside and inside the car. When it is about engines, it came with small changes, at least when it is about North American model. The 2016 Subaru Outback will continue in the same way. It will be available in two variant. Base engine is 2.5 liter four-cylinder, which comes slightly tuned up and now outputs 173 horsepower. On the other side, optional 3.6 liter engine comes without modifications and has the same output of 252 horses. When it is about transmission, 2016 Outback will be available only with CVT, 2015 year model, while manual gearbox is discontinued for North American market.
2016 Subaru Outback changes
There are several new features for 2016 Subaru Outback. One of them is Starlink communication system, which connects driver to adviser, sends collision notifications, monthly diagnostics reports etc. One more, very nice addition is Lane Keep Assist, which comes as a new part of company’s EyeSight safety suite. This feature detects lane drift and if the speed is above 40 mph, the car is automatically directed back to the lane.
2016 Subaru Outback release date and price
As we already mentioned, 2016 Subaru Outback is expected to come by the end of summer, probably in August. Price is expected to remain pretty much unchanged, which means between 22.500 and 35.000 dollars.
