Two carmakers from Europe and Japan decided to join their forces in crossover market, to improve vehicles they offer to buyers. One of the SUVs which is going to be presented soon is 2016 Renault Kwid. Both companies, French and Japanese Nissan, will give their best to this. The Kwid will be model for Asia and other parts of the world, while in Europe it is coming under different name and probably from Dacia factories, which are owned by Renault. Design will be familiar to some other models, while engine is still unconfirmed, but there are some information about it.
2016 Renault Kwid design
Crossover is going to use same platform as some other vehicles from same family, so many features will be kept. Nevertheless, 2016 Renault Kwid brings some other equipment and design solutions, making it unique. It is obvious that new SUV has similarities with Sandero, one of the Dacia vehicles, which is owned by French carmaker. Plastic protection and fenders are the same, and bumper is revisited and different for Kwid. Inside, control panel is the same as Sandero’s, which is quite bigger than 2016 Kwid. If other features will be carried over, than we will have power steering, audio system with two speakers, 7-inch LG touch-screen display and air conditioning.
2016 Renault Kwid powertrain
European models will be different from vehicles offered in the rest of the world. First change is under the hood. World edition gets naturally aspirated 0.8-liter I-3 gasoline unit which is ready to burst 60 hp and 50 lb-ft of torque. Engine is mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, that transfers power to front wheels. European cars are getting 1.0-l I-3 drivetrain.
This is slightly more powerful unit, with output of 65 hp and 65 lb-ft of torque, or 90 Nm in European units. Different transmission is prepared, with 6-speed manual box transferring the power to either front or all wheels. The last powerplant which is being developed for 2016 Renault Kwid is 1.5-l 4-cylinder diesel unit. However, other information are not available for this drivetrain.
2016 Renault Kwid release date and price
New 2016 Renault Kwid will be presented and released early in 2016. Pricing starts from around $9.000 for entry level models, which is one of the advantages for this SUV. Top of the line models are valued about $11.000.
