The Range Rover is a large luxury SUV produced by British manufacturer Land Rover. It was originally introduced in 1970 and during these 45 years, we have seen four generations of it. The 2016 Range Rover Sport will share basic characteristics with standard model. It will feature all-aluminum monocoque body, which made new model for about 900 pounds lighter that third generation of this SUV. It will be available only in HSE trim level. This variant includes standard features like 20-inch wheels, a sliding panoramic sunroof, heated and cooled leather seats with 14-way adjustments and many other. There is also an optional third row of seats. Compared to standard model, 2016 Range Rover Sport is designed more for city and highway that off-road drive. Despite this fact, it still offers 8.4 inches of ground clearance, torque-vectoring electronic differential and adaptive suspension. Like standard model, it also comes with four-wheel drive and the Terrain Response traction system, which optimizes engine, transmission, traction and other, depending on condition.

Beside current V6 and V8 units, 2016 Range Rover Sport will be also offered in diesel variants. This model will be powered with 3.0 liter turbocharged V6 diesel engine, which has a maximum output of 254 pound-feet of torque and 440 pound-feet of torque. It will come with new 8-speed automatic transmission, which features Normal, Sport and Manual Shift mode. Four-wheel drive comes as standard feature. The company promises excellent performances of this diesel version. According to the company’s spokesman, it will be able to make 0-60 mph sprint in 7.4 seconds, while top speed will be 130 mph. The towing capacity will be over 7.700 pounds, thanks to great torque, which provides impressive low-end trust. Company also promises more than 30 percent better fuel economy, compared to petrol engines.
2016 Range Rover Sport release date, price and competition
The 2016 Range Rover Sport is expected to come this fall. The price of diesel variant will be around 91.000 dollars, while base model will go around 71.000 dollars. Main competitors will be models like Porsche Cayenne, Mercedes-Benz GL350 Bluetec, ML250 Bluetec and also BMW X5 xDrive35d.
