The Mini Countryman is a sub-compact crossover SUV, which was originally launched in 2010. It is a first car of this type to be launched by Mini. This crossover is produced in many BMW’s facilities around the world and it is also available in most of the countries. Current model was refreshed about a year ago and went on sale last July. If we consider that next-generation model is in advanced stage of development and that test mule was already spotted on the streets, it is clear that 2016 Mini Countryman will come with pretty much the same characteristics as last-year model. Next generation of this crossover is expected to come as 2017 year model.
2016 Mini Countryman design
This crossover is heavily based on Mini Clubman and it can be considered as some kind of five-door version of it, with slightly longer wheelbase and more ground clearance. The 2016 Mini Countryman will have pretty much the same characteristics as mid-cycle refreshed model, which came last year. It will feature new grille, which comes with additional chrome details, which emphasizes its sporty character. New model also comes with LED fog lights, new-designed 17-inch alloy wheels and some new color options. When it is about interior, 2016 Mini Countryman will also come with same characteristics as last-year model. The biggest change that came with refreshed model is new infotainment system, which runs through large touchscreen mounted on the center of the dashboard and comes with plenty of new applications etc. When it is about styling, there are just some minor tweaks such as chrome air-vent trim and anthracite-colored dials standard across the range.
2016 Mini Countryman under the hood
Thing under the hood will remain the same. The 2016 Mini Countryman will be available in several configurations. The base variant comes with 1.6 liter engine, which outputs 121 hp. There is also a sportier Cooper S model, which features same engine but with turbocharger and outputs 181 hp. The most powerful variant is John Cooper Works model, which has maximum output of 211 horses. Standard transmission is six-speed manual, while 6-speed automatic is available as optional. Power could be transferred to either front or all wheels. It is also worth to mention that Countryman is the only model of this brand that features AWD configuration.
2016 Mini Countryman price
The base 2016 Countryman will cost slightly less than 23.000 dollars. The S trim goes around 26.000 dollars, while John Cooper Works costs over 35.000 dollars.
