As one of the leaders in the car industry, Mercedes-Benz offers cars of all kind. Last year, we saw an all-new model called GLA, which was probably the first model to use company’s new naming policy. This is a compact luxury crossover. It came to U.S. last year as 2015 year model. After only one year of production, this model is still more than fresh enough to come without modifications, so we expect to see no changes for models second year of existence. As we already mentioned, bigger modifications aren’t expected. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA will come pretty much identical to current model. This small crossover is designed as perfect mix of urban stance and off-road ruggedness. It rides on the same platform as A-Class and B-Class and shares plenty of characteristics with these models. When it is about visual appearance, The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA borrows many design solutions from bigger GLK crossover, but also shares many parts with CLA model. Interior is almost completely borrowed from CLA. It features cabin which combines modern design with retro elements such as company’s recognizable circular vents. The 2016 GLA will be also full of an advanced safety systems. Some of the most notable are Collision Prevention Assist, Adaptive Brake Assist, Distronic Plus active cruise control, Blind Spot and Lane Keeping Assist, Parktronic and Park Assist. A rearview camera comes as optional features.
2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA engines
For the U.S. market, 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA will be available in two variants, when it is about engines. The base model will be powered with 2.0 liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which outputs 208 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque. Standard model will be paired with 7-speed dual-clutch transmission, while 6-speed manual is optional. This model, called GLA 250, will be also available in 4matic variant, with company’s recognizable all-wheel drive system. There will be also an AMG variant in offer. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA 45 AMG will be powered with same engine, but equipped with BorgWarner twin-scroll turbocharger. It will be boosted up to 360 horsepower and 332 pound-feet of torque. This engine will be paired with 7-speed sports AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT transmission.
2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA release date and price
The 2016 Mercedes-Benz GLA will come later this year. Price is expected to remain unchanged, which means that base model will start at around 31.000 dollars, while AMG model will go around 48.000 dollars.
