This full-size luxury SUV originally came in 1979. It is produced by Steyr-Daimler-Puch (now Magna Steyr) in Austria and sold under Mercedes-Benz brand. As you probably know, this model constantly comes with some novelties. Almost every year we see some update. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class won’t be an exception. It will come with several updates. The most notable will be modified front end, but the most important is definitely a new engine. It will also feature some other modifications like new suspension, which will provide much better on-road characteristics, beside great off-road performances.

When it is about exterior, 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class comes with several updates. The most notable is definitely a new bumper, comes with more attractive stance. It is beautifully shaped and it features two large air intakes, for better performances. However, new bumper leaves some dose of doubt about off-road capability, because of its approach angle. It looks like off-road performance was compromised for better visual appearance. Beside new bumper, 2016 G-Class will come with several new colors such as solar beam, tomato red, alien green, sunset beam, and galactic beam.When it is about interior, it features the same basic design. There are only some minor tweaks like revised gauge cluster with upgraded needles and a new chrome-spoke steering wheel.
2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class engine
The biggest change comes under the hood. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz G-Class comes with new petrol engine. It is a 4.0 liter bi-turbo V8 engine, which comes as a replacement for a 5.5 liter naturally aspirated V8 unit. New engine will have much better fuel economy and, despite smaller displacement, it will also have more power. Compared to old 5.5 liter unit, it will have about 40 horses more, exactly 422, while max torque is 450 lb-ft. When it is about other engines, we will also see some significant improvements. The G35d model comes with an increase of 34 horsepower and 44 pound-feet of torque. Total output is now 245 hp and 442 lb-ft. When it is about AMG models, G63 comes with the same 5.5 liter bi-turbo, but tuned up to 571 hp, which is 27 more. Finally AMG G65 is powered with 6.0 liter V12, which comes with 18-horse boost and now outputs 630 hp and 737 lb-ft of max torque. The 7-speed automatic transmission remains unchanged.

The 2016 Mercedes Benz G-Class will hit showrooms this November. Main competitors will be models like Land Rover Range Rover and Porsche Cayenne.
