The CX-5 is a compact crossover, which was launched in 2012 as an all-new model. It will stay remembered as the first model that completely featured company’s new KODO design language and SkyActiv technology. This model was very well accepted and instantly became one of the most popular models of the company. After three years of production, company decided to make same modifications, it order to keep this model fresh. Refreshed model has been already presented and it will come into serial production as 2016 Mazda CX-5.

As we already said, this model was the first one that completely featured company’s new “KODO-Soul of Motion” and SkyActive technology. It came with completely new design solutions, later used for other models of the company. The 2016 Mazda CX-5 definitely won’t come with such revolutionary changes, but it will still come with plenty of novelties. When in is about exterior design, there will be several modifications. Most of them will be made on the front end. It will include new front fascia with new eye-like headlights and new grille with horizontal slats instead of mesh pattern. This front fascia has been already seen on new Mazda 2 model, and it will be also used for other company’s upcoming models.
The cabin of 2016 Mazda CX-5 will be modified too. It will come with even bigger changes than exterior. It will come with completely redesigned dashboard and with upgraded Mazda Connect Infotainment system. The 2016 CX-5 will also come with big improvements when it is about safety. Expect ot see completely improved Mazda’s i-Activesense safety pack, including Radar Cruise Control and Smart Brake Support.
2016 Mazda CX-5 under the hood
Well, in this aspect of a vehicle, 2016 Mazda CX-5 will come without changed, which is expected. Just like previous-year models, it will be available with two SkyActive petrol engines. The base one will be a 2.0 liter inline-four engine with 155 hp and 150 lb-ft of torque. The other one is a 2.5 liter I-4, which has a maximum output of 184 horsepower and max torque of 185 pound-feets. Both engines are available with FWD or AWD configurations. The 2.0 liter unit uses either manual or automatic transmission, while 2.5 liter is available only with automatic transmission.

The 2016 Mazda CX-5 is expected to enter serial production late this year. Price is expected to remain unchanged.
