The MKX is a mid-size crossover, produced by Ford’s luxury division Lincoln. It was originally launched in 2006 as 2007 year model. The original model is still in production. During all these years, we have seen only one update in 2011. However, original model will finally be replaced, after almost nine years of production. New model was presenter at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show and it is expected that in will enter serial production by the end of year, as 2016 Lincoln MKX. New model will come with plenty of changes such as new look, new interior, new engines, hi-tech features etc.
2016 Lincoln MKX design
The 2016 Lincoln MKX will come completely redesigned. Compared to original model, it will come with plenty of significant changes. When it is about visual appearance, it will be completely adapted to the company’s new design language. It will feature muscular and aerodynamic look and much more elegant profile, compared to original model’s boxy appearance. The front end of 2016 MKX will come with familiar front fascia which features split-wing grille and blade-like headlamps. Rear end will also come with plenty of modifications. We will see new rear fenders, wraparound taillights, rectangular exhaust tips etc. Interior of 2016 Lincoln MKX will also be completely new.
The cabin will be redesigned and it will feature new, more elegant styling, similar to some other Lincoln models. Beside new styling, we will see some new materials, like new wood, metal or hi-quality leather. The 2016 Lincoln MKX will also come equipped with plenty of an advanced drive assist systems. Some of the most notable ones are like 360-degree camera system, pre-collision assist, cross-traffic alert and automatic parallel and perpendicular parking comes already in standard package.
2016 Lincoln MKX engine
As far as we known, 2016 Lincoln MKX will come with two engines in offer. The base model will be powered by 3.7 liter Durated V6 engine, which has maximum output of 305 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque. Optional engine is a 2.7 liter EcoBoost unit, which is far more advanced and has more power and much better fuel economy. The maximum output is 330 horsepower while max torque is around 370 lb-ft. Both engines will use the same 6-speed automatic transmission, with FWD and AWD configurations.
2016 Lincoln MKX release date and price
As we already said, this model was presented at the last Detroit Auto Show and it should be available by the end of year, as 2016 Lincoln MKX. Price isn’t expected to be much different, compared to current model, which starts at around 38.500 dollars.
