The Grand Cherokee is definitely one of the most popular mid-size SUV around. This model was originally launched in 1993 as replacement for Jeep Wagoneer. During all these year we have seen four generations of it. Current model came in 2011 and it was planned to be redesigned next year. However, company changed plans so, instead of new, we will see a refreshed model. It will come late this year as 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee, while next-generation model will come probably few years later. Just like it is usual for refreshed models, most of the changes will be visual. However, 2016 Grand Cherokee will also come with several mechanical changes, including new engine.

This SUV was refreshed in less than year and a half ago. On January, 2014, company presented model which came with several visual modifications, so it is hard to believe that 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee will feature many visual changes. It will probably come only with some minor tweaks, when it is about exterior design. Same thing is with interior. Last-year model came with several improvements both in terms of comfort and hi-tech features. We can only hope that 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee will continue in the same way. We expect that level of comfort will raised on the even higher level. Refreshed model will feature better-quality materials, LCD touchscreen with audio controls, wireless internet, power seats and windows and many oter, but most of that we have already seen on last-year model.
2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee under the hood
The 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee will come with one significant change under the hood. It will come with new, next-generation, 3.2 liter Pentastar V6 engine. Exact details about this engine are still unknown, but it is rumored that this unit will have about 25 percent better fuel economy, compared to current Pentastar engine. It will be also available in diesel variant. This version is powered by 3.0 liter CRD V6 engine, which has around 240 horsepower and 420 pound-feet of torque and also an excellent fuel economy. For those who want more power, there will be also two V8 models in offer. The first one is 5.7 liter Hemi V8 with 360 hp, while other, more powerful is 6.4 liter Hemi V8, which outputs around 470 horsepower.
2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee release date and price
Exact date of launch is still unknown, but it is expected that 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee will come by the end of year. Just like previous model, price will go in very wide range – from 30.000 to 70.000 dollars, depending on engine, trim level etc.
