The Compass is a compact SUV produced by Chrysler’s division Jeep. This model was originally launched in 2006, as 2007 year model. Although it was well accepted, it looks like that it will be replaced soon. Company plans to introduce new model that will replace two of existing models from Jeep’s line-up. If we consider all of these facts, is seems logical not to expect something big for 2016 Jeep Compass. In this “farewell” year of production, we will see pretty much the same deal as for the previous-year model.

The 2016 Jeep Compass will feature pretty much the same characteristics as previous-year model. To be more precise, most of these characteristics are the same as in face lifted model that came in 2011. It will ride on the same Chrysler’s PM/MK Platform, and feature its recognizable look, which although reminds on Grand Cherokee, also has plenty of its own design solutions. Just like previous-year model, 2016 Compass will have three primary trim levels – Sport, Latitude and Limited. There will be also a two sub-trims – Altitude Edition and High Altitude Editions, which are some kind of enchased variants of Sport and Latitude trims, respectively. One of the main advantages of this SUV is good offer of safety features. The 2016 Jeep Compass will come with antilock brakes, stability and traction control, front-seat side airbags and side curtain airbags as standard features. In real world, this means four of five stars for overall crash protection in Government Crash Testing.
2016 Jeep Compass engines
The 2016 Jeep Compass will be available with two engines. The base unit is a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder, which is rated at 158 horsepower and 141 pound-feet of torque and return around 26 mpg in a combined drive. On the other side, there is an optional 2.4 liter 4-cylinder unit, which is good enough for 172 hp and 165 lb-ft of torque. Paired with 6-speed automatic transmission, this engine returns around 25 mpg in combined drive.
2016 Jeep Compass future
This will be the last year of models production. Company already announced that production of this and also Patriot model will end somewhere in mid-2016, when we are expecting to see an all-new model, which will replace these two and stand between Renegade and Cherokee in company’s new lineup. The 2016 Jeep Compass will keep the same price as 2015 year model.
