This nameplate is used for over four decades and during this period we have seen several variants of this legendary SUV. The 2016 Jeep Cherokee will come with the pretty much same characteristics as previous-year model. It will ride on company’s new Compact U.S. Wide platform, which was jointly developed by Chrysler and Fiat. It comes for about 5 inches longer and with 1.1 inches longer wheelbase, compared to its predecessor. It is designed both for on and off-road drive and comes with very exciting look, both outside and inside the car. The 2016 Jeep Cherokee features company’s-new front fascia, which is expected to be found also on new Grand Cherokee, which is expected to come next year. Just like 2015 year model, it will be available in four variants – Sport, Latitude, Limited, and Trailhawk. Compared to competition, one of the main trumps of this SUV is equipment. In other SUV of this class you probably won’t find features like CommandView panoramic sunroof and Sky Slider roof, memory heated/ventilated seats, and soft Nappa leather upholstery with ventilated front seats in the top Limited model. It also features excellent infotainment system, with 8.4-inch screen and full-color reconfigurable LED instrument cluster.
2016 Jeep Cherokee under the hood
The 2016 Jeep Cherokee will be available in two variants, when it is about engines. The base model will be powered by 2.4 Tigershark I-4 engine, which has maximum output of 184 hp and 171 lb-ft of torque. The optional unit is company’s new 3.2 liter Pentastar V6 engine, which outputs 271 horsepower and 239 pound-feet of torque. Both engines will be paired with Chrysler’s new 9-speed automatic transmission. This is the first SUV that is equipped with 9-speed transmission. Beside faster shifting and more comfortable drive, this will also provide much better fuel economy.

The 2016 Jeep Cherokee will come with unchanged price from last year. The base model will go around 24.000 dollars, while top models will go up to 32.000 dollars.
