The Santa Fe is a mid-size crossover produced by Hyundai. It was originally launched in 2000 and so far, we have seen three generations. Current generation of this SUV was released in 2012 and, according to the latest reports, this year we will see a refreshed version. It will come as 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe and it will feature several changes. Although it isn’t officially confirmed yet, it is pretty much for sure that refreshed model will come with changes both inside and outside the car. When it is about drivetrain, current engines will carry over but some modifications are possible.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe exterior changes
Well, this model is only three years old so some bigger modifications are not expected. The 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe will come with similar modifications to those that came with other recently refreshed models of the company. There will be only some minor tweaks like bolder grille with a chrome surround and horizontal slats, redesigned bumpers, which will come with new fog lights. On the rear end, 2016 Santa Fe will come only with new taillight graphics. Rest of the car is expected to remain unchanged.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe interior changes
Just like exterior, interior of 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe will come with only minor changes. Base design is expected to carry over, but we will see some minor tweaks. Dashboard will come with barely-notable revisited and it will feature probably just different configuration of buttons. Same thing is expected with gear shifter setup, which will also undergo some small modifications. There are also rumors that 2016 Santa Fe will come with some new entertainment features but we still don’t have exact information about this.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe under the hood
For now, North American version is available only with 3.3 liter Lambda II V6 engine, which outputs 290 horsepower and 254 pound-feet of torque. It is expected that this engine will be modified and will come with slightly more power and better fuel economy. There are also rumors that 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe will be available with 4-cylinder engine. It could be a 2.0 liter turbocharged I-4 engine with 264 horsepower. Except enough power, this engine will provide much better fuel economy, compared to V6 unit. However, this just a speculations, so you should take this information with big reserve. Current 6-speed automatic transmission will remain, but if company decide to offer 4-cylinder version, it is possible that it will be paired with new EcoShift dual-clutch transmission.
2016 Hyundai Santa Fe price and competition
Current model goes around 30.000 dollars for the base model. However, 2016 Santa Fe will cost slightly higher, probably 500-1000 dollars more. Main competitors of this crossover are models like Ford Flex, Chevrolet Traverse etc.
