Well, there are big novelties from Honda. This summer we are going to see new 2016 Honda Pilot on the market. As you probably know, this model is coming completely redesigned. The third generation of this popular SUV made its debut at the Chicago Auto Show. With plenty of radical changes, this model is definitely one of the most interesting models that are about to come this year.
2016 Honda Pilot exterior design
The 2016 Honda Pilot comes completely redesigned. Although it keeps its basic characteristics, it is coming radically changed, compared to second-generation model, especially when it is about visual appearance. This mid-size crossover has finally left its traditional SUV-ish boxy design. It now comes with modern crossover appearance, completely adapted to the company’s new design language. The 2016 Honda Pilot borrows many design solutions from 2015 CR-V, especially when it is about front and rear ends. However, it still features plenty of its own details. There are unique features like grille with three horizontal chrome slats, with the upper blade extending into the headlamps, and headlights that come without lower LED accents seen on the CR-V.
Probably the biggest changes are on the rear end, where instead of square shape, we see an attractive, sporty design. The tailgate looks very stylish and it is filled-up with nice spoiler, while taillights are definitely something that finally bring this crossover into the 21th century.
2016 Honda Pilot interior design
The interior of 2016 Honda Pilot also comes significantly changed, compared to previous-generation model. Beside lot of space, inside the cabin you will also find great styling and high level of quality, when it is about materials. There is a new dashboard, which is influenced by smaller CR-V, but still keeps plenty of its own. The cabin is very spacious, with capacity for eight passengers. There is more than enough room for the passengers from second and third row of seats. The 2016 Pilot also comes with plenty of hi-tech features. There is an 8-inch touchscreen, powered by Android-based infotainment system. There are also a satellite-linked navigation system and 9-inch entertainment system with DVD and Blu-Ray for the rear passengers.
2016 Honda Pilot under the hood
Although 2016 Honda Pilot comes with same 3.5 liter V6, this engine comes with several modifications. It features a cylinder deactivation technology and stop/start ignition systems, same as in Accord or Acura MDX. Big news is that there is new transmission. Instead of old 5-speed automatic, new model comes with 6-speed automatic gearbox. As an option, you can choose completely new 9-speed automatic transmission, for the first time available for some Honda model.
2016 Honda Pilot release date and price
The 2016 Honda Pilot will come this summer. The base model will cost around 30.000 dollars, while top models will go over 46.000 dollars.
