The Kuga is a compact SUV designed and produced by Ford’s European division in Germany. This model was originally launched in 2007. It is closely related to American model Escape. The differences between these two models are minor, so they could be considered as twins in all aspects. The second generation of this excellent SUV was launched in 2012. After some time of production, it seems that we are going to see some modifications. The 2016 Ford Kuga will come as refreshed model and it will include several changes, both in visual and technical aspects. The Escape will also follow these changes, but it is expected to come one year later, as 2017 year model.
2016 Ford Kuga changes
The 2016 Ford Kuga will come as mid-cycle refreshed model. It will come with both visual and mechanical changes. The testing model has been spied on the streets and it all indicates that new model will come with big changes, at least when it is about exterior design. As it is expected, most of the changes will come at the front end. The 2016 Kuga will follow the company’s new design language, so many details will be borrowed from models like 2015 Edge or 2016 Ford Fusion. Front fascia will suffer big changes. On the refreshed model we will see heavily revamped grille and new pair of headlights, accented by LED daytime running lights, pretty much same as on, already mentioned, 2015 Edge. When it is about other changes, exact details are still unknown, but it is expected that 2016 Ford Kuga will also feature several interior changes, both in terms of styling and hi-tech features.
2016 Ford Kuga engine
The 2016 Ford Kuga will continue to ride on the company’s versatile Global C platform, so changes when it is about engines aren’t expected. Although it isn’t officially confirmed yet, current engine lineup is expected to remain. When it is about petrol units, the will be two engines in offer. First one is 1.6 liter EcoBoost engine, which will be available in two variants – with 148 and 180 horsepower. Other engine is 2.0 liter EcoBoost, which has max output of 239 hp. When it is about diesel variants for 2016 Kuga, 2.0 liter Duratorq will be available in various variants with output in a range between 138 and 178 horsepower.
