If you are interested in buying some crossover that is not just good-looking one, but also very capable, the Edge should be an excellent choice. This mid-size crossover is characterized by excellent driving capabilities both for road and off-road drive. It was released for the first time in 2006. After eight years of production, redesigned model finally came last year. Last year we saw a completely redesigned model. It came with plenty of novelties, which will characterize 2016 Ford Edge too. New model rides on company’s new CD4 platform, which gives great possibilities in all aspects. When it is about exterior look, it is completely adapted to company’s new design language that characterizes new models like Taurus or Explorer. Interior was completely redesigned too and, besides new look, it is also equipped with plenty of latest technology achievements from Ford. Just like 2015 year model, 2016 Edge will be available in four trims – SE, SEL, Titanium and Sport. Depending on trim level, new model will come with 18-, 19- or 20-inch alloy wheels.
Higher trims will be equipped with features like eather upholstery, power-adjustable driver’s seats, full power accessories, cruise control, dual-zone automatic climate control etc. the 2016 Ford Edge will be equipped with latest Infotainment system, which comes with various packages and upgrades, depending on trim level. Antilock brakes, traction and stability control, front side-mounted airbags, front and rear head airbags, daytime running lights, and a post-collision safety system come as standard safety features. On the other side, features like BLIS blind spot monitoring and lane-keeping assistance are available in higher trims.
2016 Ford Edge engines
The 2016 Ford Edge will be available with three engines. The base model will be powered with 2.0 liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost engine, which outputs 245 hp and 275 lb-ft of torque. There will be two optional engines in offer. The first one is reserved for SE, SEL and Titanium models. It is a 3.5 Duramax V6 engine, which delivers 280 horses and 250 lb-ft of max torque. Finally, Sport model will be powered by 2.7 liter EcoBoost V6 engine, which has max output of 310 horsepower and 350 pound-feet of torque. All engines will be matted to 6-speed automatic transmission.
2016 Ford Edge release date and price
We expect to see 2016 Ford Edge this fall. Price will remain unchanged, compared to 2015 model. The base model will go around 28.000, while top models will go up to 38.000 dollars.
