The Journey is a mid-size crossover produced by Dodge division of Chrysler. This model was released in 2008 and original model is still under production. With only one update in 2011, this model could be considered as outdated. However, there is no information about next-generation model available. For now we only know that successor of this crossover will come probably next year, as 2017 year model, but there are rumors that new model will get another name. Details about 2016 Dodge Journey are also unknown. According to the rumors, it should come without any changes, with the pretty much same characteristics as previous-year model.
2016 Dodge Journey details
As it is mentioned, 2016 Dodge Journey will probably keep the same basic characteristics as 2015 year model. It will come with same body style, available with two or three rows of seats. Just like it is with current model, we are expecting to see six trim levels in offer – AVP, SE, SXT, Crossroad, Limited and R/T trim levels. While lower trims include standard features like 17-inch wheels, cruise control or manual climate control, on the higher trim you will also find standard features like LED headlights, satellite radio or even heated front seats. On the two highest trims you will find standard features like 19-inch wheels, rearview camera, 8.4-inch screen with navigation and Wi-Fi connectivity, rear seat entertainment system and many more. When it is about safety, the 2016 Dodge Journey will feature antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, active front head restraints, front side airbags, side curtain airbags and a driver knee airbag. Optional features are things like child booster seats, rear parking sensors and a rearview camera.
2016 Dodge Journey engines
When it is about engines, 2016 Dodge Journey will be available in two variants. For the AVP, SE and SXT trims, standard engine will be a 2.4 liter four-cylinder with 173 horsepower and 166 pound-feet of torque. Optional for these trims and standard for higher ones will be a 3.6 liter V6 engine, which has a max output of 283 hp and 260 lb-ft of max torque. With this engine, this crossover is able to sprint to 60 mph in about 7.8 seconds, while fuel consumption is about 17/25 mpg (16/24 for AWD model). The 2016 Journey will be available with either 6-speed automatic or 6-speed manual transmission.
2016 Dodge Journey future
For now, launch of 2016 Dodge Journey isn’t confirmed yet. Few years ago, company announced that successor is planned to come somewhere in 2016/2017 period, but it is still unknown will it keep the Journey name, or we will see some new nameplate in Dodge’s lineup.
