This compact luxury crossover was originally released in 2003. Current model is its second generation, which came in 2010. After four years of production, company did a facelift last year for a 2015 year model. Since 2016 BMW X3 will come only year after, it is hard to believe that we will see some bigger changes. According to the latest reports, new model will have pretty much same characteristics and it will receive only some minor modifications in terms of standard/optional features and similar stuff.
2016 BMW X3 exterior
The 2016 BMW X3 will feature pretty much the same exterior look as last-year model. As we already mentioned, company did a mid-cycle refresh last year. When it is about outside look, it received new LCI (Life Cycle Impulse) appearance. The most notable features are new modified twin circular headlights, kidney grille, new front and rear bumpers and exterior mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators. Sporting 18-inch alloy wheels, a power liftgate, LED fog lights and auto-dimming mirrors are standard features now.
2016 BMW X3 interior
Interior of 2016 X3 will also come with pretty much the same characteristics as current model. The main change is that list of standard features is now even longer. Some of the most notable standard features are premium vinyl upholstery, full power accessories, power-adjustable front seats with memory for driver’s settings, BMW’s basic iDrive infotainment system with its 6.5-inch display, CD player with 12 speakers, HD radio, and auxiliary audio input etc. there are also plenty of optional features. Some of them are heated front and rear seats, a heated steering wheel, GPS navigation, sport front seats, smartphone apps and many, many other.
2016 BMW X3 safety features
Safety is very important aspect for Bavarian manufacturer so you shouldn’t be surprised when you see all of standard and optional features that are in offer. When it is about standard features, there are 4-wheel antilock brakes (ABS), traction and stability control, side-mounted and head curtain airbags, daytime running lights, and front fog/driving lights. Optional features are front and rear parking sensors, blind-spot warnings, lane-departure alerts, adaptive cruise control, collision-mitigation braking and a head-up display.
2016 BMW X3 drivetrain
The 2016 X3 will be available in three variants, when it is about engines. The base xDrive28i is powered by 2.0 liter turbocharged I-4, which outputs 240 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Diesel option is xDrive28d, 2.0 liter turbodiesel engine that outputs 180 horses and 280 lb-ft of twist. Finally, there is an xDrive35i, which is powered by 3.0 liter inline-six petrol engine that makes 300 horses and 300 pound-feet of max torque. All engines will be paired with 8-speed shiftable automatic transmission.
